Re: New Front Mount
Tex, are you looking for only a front mount? Dual mounts are excluded? As I can see the latter are not sold in the US, but I spotted a European site recently where it was still listed.

Re: 2 Quick questions
See this link for an idea about RWS for Newton: https://velocomp-llc.myshopify.com/products/newton-remote-wind-sensor Hi again, this time I am hunting for a RWS for my rusty, but perfectly working Newton+. The link you shared years ago does not work any longer. Does it mean that you completely out ...

Re: Battery Charge
Out of pure curiosity, and on my own responsability I put my beloved Newton into our freezer set to -16 C degrees (3.2 F). I applied triple seals in order to create a robust shield. The daily discharge rate dropped down to 3-3.3%points. I can’t specify more exact number, because I am not sure about ...

Re: Battery Charge
A simple web search on rechargeable lithium battery storage or handling - I found plenty of information and nothing suggested storing them in the refrigerator. One comment found: Most battery manufacturers do not recommend storing batteries in the fridge. While the cooler temperature might lengthen...

Re: Battery Charge
My response in the prior post did not have a time frame. My response was: "PP will slowly discharge when not used. It is fine to keep it connected to a USB charger when not in use." Unfortunately I dont know the type of rechargable battery inside PP (or previous products like Newton), thu...

Disabling HR like ‘forget DFPM’
Hello, since I wanna see only cadence in the bottom part of Newton 5 display (that is other data) and in a continuous way (that is no alternating cad, hr and/or calories) after setting CdA OFF, I tried to remove HR as a sensor from Isaac/edit profiles/wireless ids. While one can set Cad OFF in Newto...

Re: High Avg Watts on Newton 6
Forgive me, where did you get the 4.16 firmware and how did you install it, is it good for the Newton 5? Thank you. Sorry for not reverting earlier, but for some reasons I did not get the notification email regarding your post. It was just today that I visited the forum again. As regards 4.16 John ...

Re: High Avg Watts on Newton 6
The Newton displays ground wind speed. A positive number is a headwind; a negative number is a tail wind. After some exhaustive tests meaning switching between firmware 4.16 and 5.18 several times, and downloading from and uploading to Newton different saved profiles, I dare say "Abs wind YES&...

Re: High Avg Watts on Newton 6
I had done it before the 1st cal ride and I even checked it after each of thenm, always in wind shielded places.
It did not differ from 0.0 with more than 0.3.
Anyway I have no other option than trying to make other cal rides somewhen later..

Re: High Avg Watts on Newton 6
Thanks.
Then I was right that something was wrong because I got wind of 22-23km/h both when cruising at around 20 km/h to west and the same sort of wind when crusing to east. In both cases it was positive.

Re: High Avg Watts on Newton 6
When I look at a ride file I check the following things: 1) Wind speed. In a solo ride wind speed should be close to bike speed (especially when there is little ground wind). Your wind speed is very close to bike speed; look, for example, between minutes 30-42 and 1:37 to 1:45. So, this is fine... ...

Re: 12/24 hour setting in Newton 5/6
Then I am stuck, because the function you nicely point to is the one I used without any effect on 12/24h. The units of all the other measures like those of elevation, weights and distance are correctly changed to metric.

Re: 12/24 hour setting in Newton 5/6
Sorry, John, I meant where to do it in Isaac? Simply changing English to metric has not changed 12h to 24h. Is there any other place within Isaac (latest version is installed) where I can make the correction?

12/24 hour setting in Newton 5/6
Hi,
I do remember that in fw 4.xx 12/24 hour was in User sequence.
But how to switch from 12 hours (am/pm) to 24 hours if one is over fw 4.xx? In Fw 5/6 there is no User sequence any more.
And it seems that applying metric from english with Isaac (set units) has no effect on 12/24.

Re: Speed Sensor vs GPS
It must be a misunderstanding. Also I think that Powertap hub is a special DFPM , since it broadcasts not just cadence and power data, but speed, too. Frankly speaking since it is a rear wheel hub, its speed data is as perfect as that of any other stabdalone speed sensor. After setting tore circumfe...

But I dug more into the manual of Isaac and by now I changed my hypothesis. Since in Check Calibration with DFPM has only two tabs under Crr vs Cda where there are 3 tabs including DFPM fit, and these 2 tabs are Original and Estimated, and under Estimated Crr one HAS TO choose the road surface, the...

Re: Best accuracy of Newton+ (DPFM is present)
Coast downs do not function in recent releases of FW. I checked the release notes of Newton firmware and found no reference that Coast downs have been eliminated. I also checked the Newton manual 5.x and higher and Coast Downs is stil lthere as a menu item of Newton. Since I am now on 4.16 due to t...

Newton 5 => Newton 6 upgrade
Hi, I have a white Newton 5+ with some keys like Powerstroke, GT key. And I wonder whether to go for anewton 6. Not because of the rain, it does not hurt me, I never ride in rains (at least intentionally :-) ), but for the cross-winds. I have heard informally, that although N6 was not marketed as an...

I meant in 4.16 coastdowns is still there. EDIT: But it seems that it still there in Newton FW 5.x, too, just see the latest manual of Newton. 3/a Anyway does Check Calibration with DPFM override Crr number, too, doesnt it? 3/b what is your experience? Does DPFM or coastdowns add better accuracy? I ...

Re 3: is it true for Crr, too?
In other words: do coastdowns add anything to the accuracy of Crr vs the best accuracy method made by out and back ride corrected by Check Calibration?

Hi John, To be honest I had forgotten a lot about the calibration of Newton(+) and therefore yesterday I read the Newton manual. Since now I use FW4.16 as a consequence of your kindness (see http://velocompforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=4596) I read both the manual for Newton with 4.x and that f...

Re: Help me with Display contrast please!!
Is there any way to rollback the fw? I mean to install the OS 4.x to my Newton+ which now has 5.x?
I'd really appreciate if I could get back this feature, which was available for a long long time for the users.

Help me with Display contrast please!!
Before I upgraded my Newton+ from firmrware 4.x to 5.x I could set the contrast of the display. From the manual of OS 4.13 and higher: "Set Display Contrast: LCD" I have now a Newton+ 5, quite a long while, but it was only yesterday when I wanted to change the contrast. I could not find it...
