Andrew,
I use a Garmin 500 to record everything (power, speed, location, etc.) but to get the power figures from the Newton you will need to get the GT upgrade installed on your iBike. Once the upgrade is done the Newton starts transmitting the power signal that the Garmin 500 can read.

Re: Are wireless sensors compatible?
The GT Key is necessary only if you want your Newton+to transmit the power readings out on the Ant+ network. This allows say your Garmin 500 to read and record your power values during a ride. I've been using that feature of the Newton+ since I got the device in June. All other Ant+ sensors work fin...

Lemond Revolution indoor trainer
I'm using a Lemond Revolution, a direct-drive indoor bike trainer that integrates directly with my bike’s drive train. I also have the Power Pilot attachment that allows me to get my wattage figures while training indoors. I would also like to use my Newton+ while training indoors; but there is no t...

Re: Analyze Route
John,
Thanks; this is very helpful...
Typically my rides are loops starting and ending in the same place but different roads inbetween; would Analyze Route provide useful for this type of ride?

John,
Could you give a basic rule-of-thumb as to when to utilize each on the analysis tools in the Isaac Analyze suite. Nothing too in-depth but something like you just gave me for the "Analyze Route...".

When should this tool be used? There is no clear cut directions on under what conditions this or any of the other tools should be used.

Re: Isaac Analyze tools
Look under Help/Help Documents/iBike Software Instructions from the Isaac menu bar. While it references the iBike hardware and iBike software the Isaac software is just the next generation of the iBike software referenced in the help document.

Care and feeding of my Newton
Just wondering; is there any way to clean my Newton+? Last weekend on my usual endurance ride the county was cutting new relief lines in the concrete. This put a lot of dust up in the air; my bike was covered with a fine film and I'm sure my Newton ingested some as well.

I would also recommend uploading your current profile via the Isaac software for safe keeping; just in case things go sideways while you're configuring your iBike. You can never be too safe when it comes to your data

Re: Elevation drift
I don't mind having to check/set the elevation before each ride but I don't recall that being addressed in the Newton+ documentation. This brings to mind another; question doesn't the elevation play a roll in the watts calculations?
Thanks for the quick reply.

Elevation drift
Has anyone else noticed that the iBike elevation setting drifts? I set it on Friday but come Monday it a about 200 feet higher. The roads I ride are a bit bumpy and broken but if shocks from broken road surfaces are causing this I think that there may be a design problem. Other than that everything ...

Re: iBike and Garmin mount type/positioning questions
I've been using a Garmin 500 with my Newton+. I have the Garmin mounted on the left hand side of my handlebar and the Newton+ mounted on the right. The only problem that I have with that setup is quickly accessing the timer and lap buttons on the Garmin's right; but other than that the setup works q...

Re: Calibration Woes
Let's say your CdA is .355 (or whatever) as created by the FAST SETUP procedure. Now you turn on CdA in the RACR screen and if you have a good wind scaling you'll get CdA in the .35 range. If you consistently get CdA readouts in the .40 range, your wind scaling is low. If you get readings in the .3...

Re: Calibration Woes
Oh I agree about not chasing the watts number. I'm more concerned that if the number says is 200 watts that it will always be 200 watts with the same effort. I also ride motorcycles and there is always someone that likes to boast that his setup cranks some huge horse power numbers :o when it's reall...

Re: Calibration Woes
Fernando, How do you know when you have the Newton+ dialed in . I think I've done everything correctly; the power Figures seem right (when compared to the effort I think I'm putting out), but when I "Check Calibration" I get wild swings in the differences meter. So I guess my question is h...

Re: Having issues calibrating ibike
"Wind scaling" is a calibration factor applied to the air speed/ dynamic forward pressure sensor. For instance even if your unit is zeroed properly, it may indicate a relative wind speed of +10mph when it is really 12mph. The "wind scaling" factor compensates for this. So using ...

Re: Having issues calibrating ibike
Fernando, Can you explain a bit about wind scaling I see that you have mentioned it in several of your replies in regards to calibration issues. I understand both the rolling resistance and drag and how they play a part in the wattage calculation; but just what is wind scaling and what roll does it ...

Re: Garmin Edge 500 Power Meter Calibration
I think the "pedal backwards a few times" is what brings the SRAM Quarq CinQo online and ready for calibration (per the Edge 500 video); but I don't think that procedure will bring the Newton+ online for calibration (but stranger things that I didn't expect to work have). I tried riding ar...

Garmin Edge 500 Power Meter Calibration
Anyone out there tried to calibrate their Garmin Edge 500 to their new Newton+? The Edge recognizes the Newton+; and I get power figures in the Edge's files that I download to WKO+. I've followed the directions for the Edge 500 Ant+ Power calibrations only to have my Edge 500 remain on the dashes sc...

Re: New Handlebar and Stem mount for Newton
Just received my new Newton+ and it looks great; I received it as a present from my wife. While I very pleased with the head unit itself I'm a bit surprised with the massive handlebar mounting bridge that's included with the purchase. Seeing the mounting bracket illustration that leads this post I w...
