update: merge file in latest release fails to get GPS
just an update, this option does have a bit of a bug in it. I have replicated the problem again. When it fails it seems to think the unit is not the newton but rather another model. I checked all files and tried both tcx and gpx formats and it failed. On the third try it worked and downloaded the GP...

Re: merge file in latest release fails to get GPS
Thanks for the response Fernando, oddly enough I merged the same tcx file a second time into the same iBike file, without restarting Isaac and the second time round it grabbed the GPS data. When I saved the csv file and loaded it into Golden Cheetah the GPS trace was there so all turned out fine. Th...

merge file in latest release fails to get GPS
I have merged tcx files many times from my Garmin but now with the new Isaac release it does not pick up the GPS track when I merge, before this release it worked fine.

Re: analysing cal ride data?
Thanks Travis, one thing that is mystifying me is wind offset. When I go into analyse wind after the ride it makes a big difference to the power readings. Does that indicate that my wind offset in my cal might need to be tweaked? Or should I do a Cal Wind before my next ride? Is it more correct to u...

Re: analysing cal ride data?
So is it that if I want a new cal ride I must use a profile that is set to factory presets first? Not sure I understand how to get this right. I know I can edit or extract data from ride files and ibike under edit profiles but what is interesting while I did the out and back yesterday the power read...

analysing cal ride data?
I just did a cal ride and tried to use he setup download cal data but it does not seem to want to go through the process? It seems to link on an iBike+DFPM and since it was not a coast down that is greyed out but why the DFPM? I am not certain why this option exists? So what is the plan... I did a r...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.
I have to admit this is truly a revolutionary move. I don't mind playing around to get things right. To me that was the cost of a less expensive approach, and I like the geek aspect of it. This however changes everything. The easier it is to get it up and running the better for those who are not gea...

Re: validation of the powerStroke method
I certainly do not disagree that the dataset is interesting, what would help to move someone like me is have the relative effect of pedalling as a display on the Newton in real time. To affect a change in dynamic motion the best feedback is immediate. I grant that I can not comment on live data in m...

+1 on the thanks for your efforts! However, for you artist friend and all of the rest of us ,beauty/value is in the eye of the beholder. Re: validation of the powerStroke method
Thanks John. I appreciate the time you took. I was not saying one or the other of the look pedal system was correct, but it is more a thought experiment that if you look at two systems and get similar results then there are reasons for further belief. Similar to good ole math, you can solve a proble...

validation of the powerStroke method
Not to throw water on your fire, but when ibike launched you were quick to show it correlated to the standard power meters. In this case I am not yet 100% confident this really tells you anything? Has it been compared to say a set of Look power pedals where you really are measuring force as it relat...

Re: how to see larger versions of graphs
still as far as I can get it to work not as large as I would like. For reference if you are familiar with Sport Tracks you can expand any window to full screen, then you can really look at the smaller details on a graph etc, then with a simple click it reverts to normal size.

how to see larger versions of graphs
In Isaac is there a way to see a select graph as a full screen or larger view? to be able to scan, and work with it. I suspect I can reduce the number of graphs displayed but instead I am wondering if there is a click that would allow one to enlarge one graph without playing with the settings? so yo...

friction values what is reasonnable
Hi I did my first ride with my Newton yesterday. Did the cal ride 2x. When I got home to analyse the data I noted a weird friction value on my ride vlaues vs my cal ride in CRR was 0.0113 vs what the cal ride said was 0.0042 much more reasonable. But the real question is there is a riding tilt and a...

question regarding merging TCX files
I am wondering if when you merge a garmin tcx file into Isaac, does the recording intervals of the two files have to match? What I am curious about is if the Garmin is using smart recording then it will likely be different from the 1 per second or the 1/5sec rate in the Isaac, or Newton. thanks for ...

what is used for research level power accuracy?
I have been looking at this bike power thing for a while and to date the most likely item I have seen for " accurate" power is something like he velotron. Regardless of the methods I have seen all measures may be precise but accuracy is quite another thing. For training oneself precision i...

Re: Happy New Year!
iBike has hinted that they have a neat (I assume software) GPS implementation. I would guess it uses some on line GPS app to align with elevation? to give ride data aligned with Map? I have a Garmin and love the ability to look at where geographically different efforts were, etc. New workout analysi...

Re: Happy New Year!
I guess it is too much to ask what is coming but can you give the time frame, ie in first quarter or even better the month? It will be interesting to hear what new things will be available or included in the iBike OS. Can't wait to see what is up.

Re: battery stability?
for me this time of year is not outdoor riding ie lots of snow, and my trainer gives wattage so at this point I have not used the Newton for a bit and I would seem to be seeing about 10% per week as well.
Great to hear it seems normal.

battery stability?
when the Newton is not in use how long should the battery hold its charge? I note that when my battery is left uncharged it falls constantly if not recharged. What should be the expectation on the % charge loss per day/ week? between charges to 100%.

Re: suggestion: a write up on the order of importance of calibra
Hi John, though better, but there still are gaps. The cal wind is mentioned on pages 8, 22 and 33 however the procedure is never described. In the forum it has all kinds of things which may or may not apply to the Newton such as cupping your hand over the wind port, doing a wind cal frequently, ie d...

suggestion: a write up on the order of importance of calibra
One thing that seems to be missing in documentation is the importance of the various calibrations and factors in the over all power calculation. Mathematically not all factors have the same importance to the calibration, some might be very minor while others may have a majour impact. As well some ma...

Re: Loose fitting on stem mount??
Since you asked that question I went back and looked at that aspect. I am not a bigger hammer type of user so if it does not fit smoothly then I look for options or help. It appears that the rubber bung must be carefully inserted or it gets in the way. After a couple of tries it is now working OK. Ron

Re: Loose fitting on stem mount??
I have encountered a slightly similar issue with my newton. The problem I have noted with the dual position mount is that I can not slide it full onto the mount. It will not pass the mini USB port rubber cover. It certainly will not reach the thumb screw mount. If one tries to attach the thumb screw...
