thanks John, what about the pdf version of the manual has that been discontinued and what was the last version that was written? I found it quite helpful for minour issues.

I went to the new website to download the Newton manual but could not find anything on the newton at all. Is there a link I missed?

if the fixes do not affect any aspect of the Newton that I use is there any benefit or downside to not doing the update? If a future update comes along that is important do you need all previous updates to access it?

Re: PowerStroke upgrade $99 - Is it really that much value a
though I suspect that the Power Stroke works to a certain point the only issue I have is that it is not in real time, so it is hard to do anything to inform your improvement. On a Computrainer or other device that shows real time effects of pedalling dynamics you can change things and see the effect...

That makes sense John, and sort of what I thought so then the issue is for people who have higher end iPhones, I am quite happy with my situation.

Re: New Velocomp Tracker for iOS11 replaces Newton Tracker
this is interesting, I am running iOS 11 on my iPhone 5s and the regular 9not updated version) of tracker worked fine for me last evening. So it may have not been necessary to update tracker to use it with iOS 11 unless maybe newer phones access GPS etc differently than the older one? So at this poi...

"The problem is consistency and it seems as though the reported value is more and more inaccurate as the slope increases and gravity is the dominant factor (~90%). Then the acceleration is more and more dominant, so the error becomes more and more dominant. " if there is an error due to th...

Re: Still not confident regarding accuracy
it is more than likely a mass market accelerometer like the ones in phones and PP would not be 100% true.. however the one thing that people get head over heals about is accuracy... it is very difficult to prove that any power meter is accurate since power is a derived measure and not a direct measu...

Re: Left/Right Power?
I do not discount that the power stroke is doing a lot with respect to dealing with the accelerometer data and using an algorithm to translate that into what you show with respect to timing it to the right and left pedal stroke based upon the position of the left crank arm, and maybe I am being opti...

Re: Left/Right Power?
since the power pod/ Newton is capturing power reading at such a high frequency, one would think that it would be rather trivial math to add a line in the power stroke display that captures the left right balance as a percentage? Just one more piece of info to improve pedaling dynamics. If a user ha...

Re: PP ride files showing much lower air temp than actual
just a thought John, why could you not put it as a n option in the analyze route page? You could enter starting temperature, after that all that is needed is a simple temperature off set, ie if the actual starting temp was 25 deg C and the temp recorded by the newton or PP said 21 then all temperatu...

Re: I have a big problem.
Your problem has nothing to do with the firmware key. Something has happened to your installation of Isaac; please email technicalsupport@velocomp.com I have had a similar lab view error for over a year. It just means that the graphs initially draw incorrectly. I sent a request in way back but noth...

Newton Track feature suggestion, accident alert
Just a suggestion, since I typically use the tracker app, it would be a great feature if the app had an add on that would alert a set of specific emergency contacts if certain conditions were met via text message and provide GPS map info. Since the tracker is running and the phone, Newton or powerpo...

Re: Anyone using PowerPod on a Fat Bike with any success?
there are a few subtle issues that fat bikes encounter which are not the same for a road bike, The rolling resistance can change dramatically depending upon what you are rolling on or through, this is not an real issue for a road bike. In any ride I can go from smooth easy rolling to snow that actua...

Re: Anyone using PowerPod on a Fat Bike with any success?
well I would love to believe you but the road vibration on a road bike is much different than a fat bike with 4-6 psi and a 4.5- 5 inch tire. A lot of any of this feedback would be eaten up by the tire and some by the suspension fork... so though I have no issues with the ibike on my road machines I...

Re: Anyone using PowerPod on a Fat Bike with any success?
the most significant issue I see is rolling resistance. I use a variety of tire pressures depending upon conditions.also in any one ride I might be on smooth dirt, hay fields, sand, snow(and that is a whole other story), mud, etc and from my pedalling effort I know they are very different. I see no ...

what is weird is if I ignore the error and continue the file corrects itself.... It seems to be a rendering error on the Y axis. my one and only complaint with the out front mount is the space that is around the knurled screw to tighten the unit to the mount, I have small hands and it is a real pain to undo it... on the other hand you can use a screw driver but it would be nice if the design allowed more space around the scre...

Re: Newton detecting other rider's DFPM data
Maybe a dumb question but do you have a dfpm? If you do then it will automatically lock onto that unique ant number. If you do not have a dfpm, then in Issac turn this option off so it will not search for a dfpm.

Re: do bike storage conditions impact "start of ride" accura
I think the answer is if you put your bike in acrepair stand and turn on your ibike that it will assume you are riding and try to adjust the tilt factor. This automatically happens in the first 5 minutes of every ride. So if you start another ride after it has been "adjusted" while in the ...

Re: PowerStroke and New Garmin speed/cadence sensor (no magn
it is important to remember (this is confirmed by Garmin) that the cadence sensor trigger point is from what ever point it wakes up in. This means if the crank arm that the sensor is on in at 6 o'clock that is where the trigger point will be. For power stroke there is an assumption that the trigger ...

Re: Power data off for 2/3 of ride: wind sensor issue?
I do not know what John`s opinion of this is but I have found empirically that using the out front mount allowed me to set up the Newton with a very slight downward slope, less than a couple of degrees from level so that the wind port would naturally drain. Previously I had the stem mount that was a...
