Re: FTP - Average or Normalised Power?
Take the last 8 minute avg.(22-30min) of that 30min test. That's your FTP if you went "all out" from the beginning. Meaning you started above your FTP and gradually decreased especially between 12 and 18minutes. I actually find that method to be the most accurate for me and spot on for a 1...

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!
I rode a roughly 48 mile loop last Tuesday(DFPM) and This Tuesday(Newton). I started both rides with a 20 min TT pace(perceived effort) after that I pretty much L2 with a few L3 efforts for the rest of the loop. I didn't really look at the PM's. Went on perceived effort. Just doing base miles and st...

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!
I just looked in the Os2 thread and couldn't find them to provide a link. I remember posting graphs and ride data but can't find it on here anymore. Maybe I posted it on another thread or someone cleaned up the old threads that were deemed irrelevant. All my files are in WKO now. I'm not sure if I c...

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!
I posted a few files on this thread earlier when OS2 was released. I've been running the iBike solo lately when I use it. So I have no recent comparisons. No point in running two.

Re: At long last, the iBike Newton!
I've done multiple test using PT's, Ergo Trainers, Newtons, and SRM. Every PM company claims to have accuracy to 2% or less accept Stages. Stages is probably the only half honest one. Here is some of the things I've learned and is known. 1. I can run a SRM or PTG3(2%accuracy claim) with 2 separate h...

Well, I can put a tri-pod screw through it and use the tri-pod GoPro mount to make a video for my virtual trainer. I was so proud too.

Re: Just Showing Off
I'll test a few rides and see how it reacts, I'll post results after a few rides. But it will take a while because a lot of my time is on the trainer now. So nobody hold their breath. I actually like the steering tube mount for the Newton so it wouldn't be a big deal to use it. I was really worried ...

I was bored today and realized how I really like the K-Edge mount for garmin. So I made an adapter to the K-edge mount to accept my Newton. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8224/8256580676_253d754fc8_c.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8078/8256583250_79ebd37a36_z.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8210...

Re: Newton vs DFPM
Ok it was actually closer during the actual climbing portion. Total Elev. gain on 11/10/12 was 1,532ft. Total Elev. gain on 11/23/12 was 1,516ft. This is the Gate to Gate portion on the back side of Glendora MTB Rd.(Back side) I actually hit the lap on this section so it highlighted for me in WKO. O...

Yes, I probably should have not included the wattage data on my last posting as it is here nor there in retrospect to your question. But to try and answer your question. The actual climb major climb showed a variation of 69Ft. from the "2 weeks apart" rides. To add, if I ride with others w...

Re: Newton vs DFPM
Yes, I have a G3 and manually dialed the Newton+ in over a few rides. If you can borrow a DFPM and do that it helps considerably I have to admit. It takes a little knowledge to be able to look at sections of a ride to see what needs taking and giving to get the results you want. Issac has a DFPM ana...

Re: Display Feature - Gear Ratio
Gear ratio, why? If they could fit something on the screen and we only had one choice, why that? Not only is it easily viewed during post analysis(makes more sense there anyway), you can easily just glance at the rear cog. From a training standpoint, cadence is optimal and easily understood by the m...

Re: A major improvement: OS2 for Newton
That being said, after I installed OS2 I went on a ride with 3 friends and drafting is still a issue. I wish it would ask me at the beginning or in the setup screen, do you plan on drafting? Y/N? If you hit yes, then it should ask me, will you be pulling in the drops? Y/N. Because sometime we are t...

Re: A major improvement: OS2 for Newton
Yes, it is a improvement. Like he said, you will notice right away the smoothing(both on the bike and in ISSAC). This has been a big year for Velocomp. Lots of improvements across the board. I have my Newton+ so "dialed in" , I can go on a 3 hour solo ride and it will track a DFPM within 1...

Re: Can Someone weigh in On this thread
I understand..Their bias and narrow minded approach is sometimes mind blowing considering how smart some of them are. This particular thread seemed to interest me due to the fact of accuracy and/or lack of. I have not received the SRM yet and currently use the PT G3. I'm only doing it for rim/wheel ...

https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/wattage/aqF2wJosI8c I just bought an SRM and switch between my G500 and Newton as a head unit. Re: Tilt questions
I have a similar problem with tilt and or slope.. My problem is on the descent. It's reading the going up hill part fine with very accurate numbers according to my DFPM(which I calibrated it with)and perceived effort. But on the descent it's reading inaccurate slope and giving me huge wattage number...

Re: IDash + Power or Ibike Newton
I have the iAero now. I also have a powertap. I race a single speed hardtail 29er and this talk about MTB has me wondering if I should trade in the Iaero. The iAero doesn't work well for mtb. But if the Newton has new technology that would make it work then I'm interested for sure. plus no need for ...

Re: Wireless failure after changing battery in iPro.
I've noticed that some Energizer batteries have power numbers on the iBike above 310. When I use one of these in the wireless mount I will get a fail. They work in all other parts; such as, iBike head unit, cadence, speed cadence, HR strap, etc. but when I put one in the wireless mount I'll get that ...
