Re: PowerPod V5 - Blocked Port
Hi John I did a hard reset after those rides. The next day I did the normal commute to work where I pushed on a bit. The power did seem more or less what I would expect. Here is the file. iBike_08_03_2023_0624_11_Miles.ibr On the ride home I did an extended ride. The first twelve miles look generall...

PowerPod V5 - Blocked Port
Hi The attached two files are my ride in and ride back from work today. It was very wet on the ride in and you can see the wind port gets blocked. However, I thought the new firmware allowed for this by using wheel speed to calculate power. Then on the ride home the port still appears to be blocked ...

Hi John I did check the PowerPod and it did appear to be solid in the mount. Here are the pictures of it on the bike. 20230425_174257.jpg 20230425_174305.jpg 20230425_174309.jpg Also attached are todays ride files. Weird Power Figures
Hi First full rides today with the new PowerPod V5 with a couple of commutes. This mornings ride was fine as seen in this attached ride file. Power numbers as expected. Wind was 6.3mph from the NNW (the ride is roughly easterly so slight cross tailwind). iBike_04_24_2023_0620_11_Miles.ibr On the rid...

PowerPod V5 - GPS Tracking
Hi After my V3 finally died (slow death over a year since it stopped connecting to the PC) I have upgraded to the V5. I note on the website it states the GPS tracking is included. However, I can't see any guidance on how you use it. There is mention of downloading an app but I can't find that on Pla...

Re: PowerPod Rain Protection - A test study
Final test ride, 1 and half hours in very heavy rain. Unfortunately mod does not stop the issue. After an hour the PowerPod became blocked. So observations are the mod probably does have an effect in increasing the time before the device stops working by about half an hour. My guess is without the m...

Re: PowerPod Rain Protection - A test study
Very wet ride to work today. Heavy rain for the whole ride with some riding into a block headwind. Ride was about 40 minutes and no issues with the power. So initial rides all see to show that the mod does fix the issue with rain stopping the PowerPod working. It would be interesting to have John lo...

Re: PowerPod Rain Protection - A test study
Sods law that since I started this thread all my road rides have been dry but finally got some rain today. Two commutes. The ride to work was on very wet roads after overnight rain and light rain falling. Ride time 40 minutes. Typically this type of condition would be a 50 50 whether the PP would ge...

Re: PowerPod App - using Issac created profiles
Thanks John will give the app a try.
It is a bit of a pain to send it to the US (I am in the UK). I am considering a V5 but happy to keep using the V3 even if it means charging it a bit more often meantime.

PowerPod App - using Issac created profiles
Hi My PowerPod V3 has stopped connecting to my PC and I have tried all of Tech Supports suggestions to no avail. It works fine otherwise (thought the battery life has got worse). I have two profiles on it I use on my two road bikes. If I connect the PowerPod to the new app does it copy these profile...

PowerPod Rain Protection - A test study
Hi As someone who lives in area where rain is fairly common the limitation of the PowerPod in the rain has always been an issue. I was hopeful that the addition of the Pitot tube in the V3 I use would help but it did not seem to make a difference. I always (from V1 to V3 PP) seen to get about 20 min...

Charging LED
Hi Has there been any changes to how the LED light operates in Firmware 9.00? I don't seem to get the flashing red light when charging for any length of time. Today I got the low battery warning on my Garmin whilst out on the ride. I plugged it into the PC downloaded the ride and the led did flash f...

Re: Protecting my ports from rain
I thought it was the actual sensor within the Power Pod (in the hole the pitot tube goes into) that gets blocked? The advice is to blow into that to unblock the port (never worked for me). Interested to see if the pressure hole is actually the issue in the rain but have never seen that mentioned bef...

Re: Washing the bike with pp
It is waterproof so it should not be a problem. You would have to be careful not to get water in the wind port as it may block it. However, as long as you dried the PowerPod for long enough you should be okay. I tend to just take it off when I clean my bikes.

Re: Trainer mode ok is. Zwift nope.
Hi, I have set up my PowerPod in Trainer mode to work with Zwift both on laptop and Android mobile with no issues.
Sounds like you may either have an issue with your PowerPod or your speed sensor. I am sure John will be able to give you a definitive answer.

Mounting off centre is definitely better to reduce spray getting in the wind port and blocking it.

Re: Any way to use it in the rain?
On a related note John, would a pitot tube with a right angle in it help reduce the impact of water blocking the port?

Re: Any way to use it in the rain?
Unfortunately in reality nothing will really stop the PP from working in the rain. I have the pitot tube, tried changing the angle of the PP but the port still gets blocked after a while (20 minutes is about my time too). There is occasions where it does not block in the rain but they are a rarity. ...

Re: Merging data PPv2 to PPv3
From memory you just need to copy the profiles onto your PP3 from Issac. You will then need to do a calibration ride as I think the wind settings are slightly different in particular if you have a pitot tube fitted.

Re: Profile weirdness.
John No did not amend that file at all, it is the one I downloaded from the PowerPod. I had noticed that PowerPod did record a ride previously when it did not appear to connect the same circumstances. I know you say that it this is impossible for it to not be able to communicate with Profile 2 howev...
