Re: Powerpod has stopped working
My Powerpod V3 has stopped working. A couple of weeks ago nothing happened when I pressed the button, so I thought maybe the battery was dead and for some reason Garmin hadn't given me the normal low battery warning. I plugged it in to charge it and got the normal flashing green light followed by fl...

Re: PowerPod V3 in the Rain
Hi John, When I asked a similar question recently you advised approx level. I have my V3 at 5 degrees which is noticeably pointing downwards. 10 to 20 degrees would be very significantly downwards. Would the PP not think that you are riding downhill and under read at that sort of angle?

Re: PP V3 - How Far Is 'Slightly'
Thank you for the reply. It’s the initial set-up angle that I need some advice on. Once I have that i should be ok.
Used yesterday for the first time and seemed to be reading lower than expected when compared to similar efforts with my old PP.

PP V3 - How Far Is 'Slightly'
As per the title, how far is 'slightly' pointing down? From having to mount my previous V1 PP level, I'm unsure as to what 'slightly' means. I have just measured and my V3 is pointing down by 7 degrees. Is this too much? I assume that at a certain point the PP will assume you are constantly riding d...

Powerpod has stopped working
I turned on my Powerpod this morning (green light) as normal and started my ride, After a few minutes (completion of the beginning of the ride calibration) instead of getting normal readings I got zero watts. I also noticed that the device had a solid red light. I assumed (I now think wrongly) that ...

Re: Calibration - please could somebody check for me
Thanks John, I'll upload a file from last year when I get a moment. I was on the hoods 90% of the time (elbows bent) - which is what my profile should be set to. The last hour of my ride is my commute into the centre of London so can be ignored as it will be either with other cyclists or among cars/...

Re: Calibration - please could somebody check for me
John, Please can you check the attached for me when you get a chance. I am still not convinced it is reading correctly. I struggled to get above 160 watts this morning on my training run, with watts only rising above 200w when out the saddle or climbing. My ave 20min power (for the only section undi...

Re: Calibration - please could somebody check for me
John,
Really sorry. I posted the wrong files
. Those were from a calibration ride exactly a year ago (doh!!).
Attached is the correct file. There doesn't seem to be a separate calibration file - I assume it's the first part of this file.
Thanks
Steve

Calibration - please could somebody check for me
Attached is the calibration (o&b) and subsequent ride file from today. This is for a repaired (actually it's a replacement) unit. We have been experiencing strong winds in the UK for the last week so not sure how this will affect a calibration ride. Please could this be checked. I am not sure if...

Re: Issues with Repaired PowerPod
John, Apologies, I must have unattached 2 of the files between Preview and Posting. Attached are the 2 other files plus a Pre-Repair file. I am not sure how much help the pre-repair file will be as it is a) A different PowerPod to my original and b) A different bike - as I am now using my winter bik...

Issues with Repaired PowerPod
I received my repaired PowerPod back last Friday. I am assuming that I have been sent a refurbished PowerPod as a warranty replacement as the PowerPod I received was not my original PowerPod? Since refitting and re-calibrating this PowerPod I have been experiencing issues whereby the readings drop d...

Re: Powerpod Issues Since Ride in Rain
John, Please can you check my latest file from this mornings ride (specifically the section from 20-40 minutes). I am pretty sure that my PP is still reading low as according to this I've lost 80 watts since a similar effort in the last 3 weeks. I accept that there may be a slight loss (although I h...

Re: Powerpod Issues Since Ride in Rain
John, please can you take a quick look at the attached and let me know if it's ok. This was my ride home last night. I cleaned out and dried the wind port as per your instructions (although I couldn't see any obstruction and and no mud/muck was present when I cleaned it). It worked consistently on t...

Re: Powerpod Issues Since Ride in Rain
Thanks John. I've shone a torch in the port (couldn't see any cause of blockage), but have carefully cleaned around the inside of the port opening again. I have used a fan to dry it and will see if it makes any difference on my way home this evening. Yes, my commute is slightly downhill into work. N...

Powerpod Issues Since Ride in Rain
Hi, please could somebody check the attached ride file from this morning? I have had issues with the Powerpod since I rode for 3/4 hours in the rain on Saturday. Towards the end of the ride Powerpod stopped working properly, giving random readings or 0w at times. I figured this was due to rain in th...

Re: GoPro mount types
Hi, I have the Lifeline stem face-plate mount (the one with the pointed back). When the PP is fitted and levelled, the rear of the PP sits about 2mm clear of the face-plate to my stem. Depending on the type of stem/thickness of face plate you have, you may find you have clearance issues with this mo...

Re: Standard Mount with TT Bars?
I'll post a picture of my setup at the weekend. Just to complicate things I will possibly now be using a road bike with clip-ons rather than my TT bike as one of my kids knocked my TT bike over on its side yesterday and it looks like I may need a new rear mech hanger :( (it must be made of cheese) T...

Standard Mount with TT Bars?
Is it possible to use a standard (stem) mount when using TT ‘ski’s’ or are the powerpod readings likely to get obstructed by bars/hand position etc. I have ordered a specific TT combo mount but it won’t have arrived in time for a couple of TT’s I am riding in the next 7 days. Thanks for any advice S...

Re: Suggestions for Combo Mounts for Garmin/Powerpod
Many thanks for the reply. Re: the lack of stop - that's good to know.
I think I will get a Velocomp out front for the race bike and then a cheaper alloy stem mount (minus the stop) for the training bike.
thanks
Steve

Suggestions for Combo Mounts for Garmin/Powerpod
Does anyone have suggestions for alternative combo mounts for Garmin/Powerpod? I want to move my Powerpod between 4 bikes and therefore need another 3 mounts. I am likely to get a Barfly 4 TT mount for my TT bike as I have read that this works well with the Powerpod. I need a couple of (preferably) ...

Re: Please Could Someone Check Data from File
Hi John, Many thanks for taking a look at the file. I did think it was a bit strange that I was putting out Alex Dowsett type numbers for my meagre training effort :D If I send the new profile you have kindly tweaked to my device, is it good to go or do I need to do a new calibration ride? Thank you...

Please Could Someone Check Data from File
I wonder if it's possible for someone to check the attached file as I think it is showing too high readings for the latter part of the ride. The file is basically 2 parts. 1) Commute out to club TT course (so basically stop/start ride in traffic, lots of traffic lights etc. 2) Training effort round ...
