Re: WTF!!!
On page 38 of the Wireless Instructions there is a photo of a speed sensor and cadence sensor mounted too closely together, resulting in false readings for both, just in the way you describe. The sensors work by detecting impulses produced by the magnets that pass by them. If the magnets are too clo...

Re: Wind Offset
Important post script for this problem: bkr emailed us and reported that he determined the root-cause of the wacky wind readings: the wind scaling factor in his profile was 614! That is, his measured wind speed was being multiplied by 614; this caused his wind numbers to jump around like crazy. Norm...

Re: Wind Offset
I just spoke with bkr and together we solved his problem. He had upgraded his firmware from 114 to 116. For reasons that I don't fully understand, sometimes when the upgrade is done the internal pointers of the firmware get confused and cause this wild-wind offset problem. The fix is simple: downgra...

Re: Wind Offset
If your wind offset won't quickly settle down to zero something is wrong. Please email me at jhamann@velocomp.com and we'll figure out what is going on.

Re: Garmin compatibility announcement
There is a significant cost involved in developing new firmware. All of our engineers and developers live in the USA; this allows us to go fast and to be very innovative, but this kind of talent is not cheap. We based iBike G pricing on our actual development costs and a best-guess of the number of ...

Re: Garmin compatibility announcement
For your information, the iBike G firmware is now available at the iBike Store. Also, it is now possible to purchase an iBike wireless mount WITHOUT sensors. If you don't own an iBike but want to get an iBike that will work with Garmin sensors, purchase the following: iBike Pro, wired version iBike ...

Garmin could certainly implement compatibility with the iBike sensors but I doubt they will do it.

Garmin compatibility announcement
We are pleased to announce that we have implemented full Garmin compatibility with the iBike. Garmin/iBike compatibility requires the use of an iBike wireless mount, and the installation of for-purchase iBike firmware that enables Garmin compatibility. The firmware update will be serialized to the o...

Re: coast down values
When we first shipped the iBike we reported "iBike drag coefficients" only: aero and frictional drag. You can see these numbers in the Totals screens of your iBike. Since introducing iBike 2 and the new calibration procedure, (multiple coast down and 4 mile ride), you can also see the drag...

Re: iBike vs Power Tap SL
To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: here we go again! Ever wonder why you NEVER see direct, moment-by-moment comparisons of power meter files? The answer is simple: it is extremely difficult to do! Differences in ride file sampling intervals, differences in electronics, variances in unit-to-unit manufactur...

Re: Keep Losing the CPX Port
I saw this problem on a laptop. The issue was that the USB connector was loose in the port and when the customer moved his iBike the port connection would be broken and he'd have to relaunch. The simple fix is to connect your iBike to the USB adapter, turn it on, plug it in,then don't touch it while...
