Re: Another Trainer Question
I would MUCH prefer to see more Profiles before more trainers. I have a road bike, TT bike, cyclocross bike, and a mountain bike. There are probably a lot more iBikers with 3 or more bikes than there are using 2 or more trainers. Just sayin'. ;) Perhaps your mis-understanding the feature. Having mo...

Re: Another Trainer Question
Since the Gen III holds two separate profiles, can each profile be uploaded with a different trainer? Example, Home trainer is a Genetic Road Machine, and Bike Shop uses CycleOps Fluid ^2 when I go there. Can I have profile use the Kinetic info and switch the unit to Profile 2 and download the Cycl...

Question: Fluid Trainers
I have at home a Kinetic Road Machine and have downloaded the trainer model into the iBike, works fine by the way. I want to do some spin classes here at the LBS and they use CycleOps Fluid ^2. There are 4 different ones in the trainer lists. Question is which one is to be downloaded into the iBike?...

Re: wireless sensor issue
Without cadence, the computer will not know if you are pedaling - should result in zero watts. You may need a new battery in the HR strap. Tom I think that is an inaccurate statement. ibike has a wired mount with no cadence, you can also purchase the wireless with only the speed sensor. If the cade...

Re: iBike and Weight Loss
In addition to the cycling I was on a no-fat, low carb diet. With this diet I did not have loads of extra energy to use for intervals. That's a little taste of what us Diabetics have to deal with. :) At least you can go back to storing them, for me they have to remain stored in the packaging they c...

Re: FTP zones vs. CP zones
It is my understanding from reading much literature on power, that CP (Critical Power) and (FTP Functional Threshold Power) are the same. Saw mention of two different tests, one method is the 20 minuytes of pain, other is to go the full hour. Another method is a 3 minute all out effort followed by a...

Re: Gen III on Trainer
Resistance unit is tight, it really doesn't matter if their is resistene or not, just spinning the tire at a certain speed would produce watts. Speed is consistent 22.5 mph cadence consistent 100, what is not is the Watts, which get to 235-240 and start dropping and going all over the place. A coupl...

Gen III on Trainer
I have a Kurt Kinetic Road Machine, sent the info to by iBike. According to the power curve in the 3.06 the speed and watts match up pretty well except when going 20mph or faster. Here is what I saw last night using built in Fat Burn Workout on the ibike. Hovering a bit over 200 watts at around 17.5...

Weather Effect on Cal Ride and Coast Downs
I have a question regarding the Title. I just installed the wireless mount so I can use with the Garmin 305 and it's sensors. Knowing the Mount isn't installed exactly in the same place on the bars and maybe slightly different tilt and all, I suspect I need to do another Cal Ride and Coast down afte...

Re: Weight Training
Thanks, both of you for the reponses, Checked out the site and ordered the book. It's going to feel a bit strange in the gym being on a yoga ball. Always figured those were gimmicks for housewives. I'm sure I'll embarress myself a few times falling off of it.

Weight Training
Now that winter is nearly upon us here in New England and it gets darker here earlier than most places, I reckon it's near time to head indoors on the trainer and back into the gym. Can anyone recommend how much or what types of weight training would be beneficial to cycling, and which types would o...

Re: Fit Test or Weight Test?
Not Riding to race either, but then really, anytime you're riding with a group it's a race isn't it?. I'm no young pup, but it's an inner competition to raise FTP and while I'll never beat my coworker at 75kg up Mt Washington, or even Wachusett, at least I'd like have bragging rights on FTP. :...

Re: Fit Test or Weight Test?
Thanks Coach Boyd as well as other folks whom replied. Yes for me I got into serious cycling in July, although I did ride a little before just as means to get out of the gym and keep areobically fit along with the weight training. I'm 102Kg in the morning, and after my fit test, no, misery ride up M...

Fit Test or Weight Test?
Stick with me for a second and hopefully my math is correct...This is for fun, not an argument for or agianst the validity of the Fit Test as it is, I believe specific for Cycling. (But the Air Force had simular issues with their VO2Max Ramp test done on a stationary cycle) through the 90's. A 3400 ...

Fit Test Question
There aren't really any flat roads around where I live in New England. Mostly rolling terrain so there are short burts up hill and then of course negative slopes. But there are plenty of climbs around. Coach Boyd would be familiar with Mt Wachusetts in Mass. Anyway, would the fit test be more accura...
