Re: COM port issue...

In device manager under advanced settings you can change which com port is present by the SP210X USB-to-UART driver. Have been experiementing with Windows 7 and found some choices (com 3 for example) were not recognised in the iBike software. Try changing it to something higher than the normal 1 - ...

Re: ride analysis software

New SportTracks iBike plugin version just posted, along with some instructions and screenshots on the SportTracks iBike plugin homepage . The goal of this project is to make iBike integration with SportTracks as clean as possible. If anyone has any feedback or features you feel are missing or need t...

Re: Drafting question

So, if like in OPs original situation, you drafted 'just a teensy bit'... I wonder what the best answer to the question is? Seems like I have this scenario a lot as well and I'm quite often on the fence as to what to answer. I suppose that 4% drafting equates to 'just a teensy bit', thus it'd be app...

Re: Drafting question

From what I understand, the question is posed as this: "Were you drafting? If yes, I'll keep the wind as is, if not (and this was an out an back sort of trip), then I'll adjust your wind such that it nets 0 wind over the duration of the ride." So, depending on if you say yes or no, it'll e...

Re: Little or no wind readings

So I was able to do calibrations yesterday in ideal conditions, and I was able to do everything as close to perfectly as possible. I've been lucky enough to be able to borrow another iBike from a friend to compare against. Calibrated both iBikes at the same time (mine and the borrowed GenII iAero), ...

Re: Little or no wind readings

Here's my ride file from this past Sunday. I rode this with the external battery disconnected and iBike recording set to 5 seconds. Average temperature was around 42F. First and last ~12 miles were solo, and the middle section was with a small group. Also, when I downloaded it, it said there wasn't ...

Re: ride files getting split at download

I just read about this the other day... maybe a low battery?
See if this looks like it might be your problem:

Re: Little or no wind readings

No I have not, but thanks, that's the next thing on my list of things to check. It's such a pain to get my battery out, so that's why I haven't gotten there yet :? , but I will try that. The original problem was that iBike would die without the external in the cold, so I hope I'm not at a catch-22.

Re: Little or no wind readings

The previous screenshot (with crazy wind scaling and Crr) was from an attempt to re-do my calibration. That's the problem... I can't redo it because I'm not properly reading the wind. Because I'm not properly reading the wind, my calibration attempts are collecting bad data. That is, unless someone ...

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

I did replace the internal battery, but had bad results. I've replaced battery twice and am still not reading wind properly.

I've moved my problem to this thread in an attempt not to clutter this external battery example thread:

Little or no wind readings

I picked up an iBike Gen II back in mid-November (around 65°F here). Calibrated and everything seemed to be reading well (as far as I could tell). If I touched the pedals it'd register power, even on downhills. Then along came the cold and it really hurt iBike, one ride, so I got him an external bat...

Re: Testing batteries with a wireless setup

...Battery in the hr strap a couple of months (I don't use this anymore)... I've been using the Garmin HR strap, and I get about 300 hours of activity time on a battery. A couple of months sounds reeaally short (or else you're very active). I'm using the Garmin HR strap, not the iBike one, but I be...

Re: Sport on the fritz

If it's related to water getting in the unit, I've had good luck with cell phones (after washing machine... or any good dunking) by placing them on my stereo (or cable/satellite box) for several days or a week or so. It's constantly warm there, but not hot enough to damage anything. That should give...

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

I'll swap out the internal battery and see if that makes a difference. The tests were inside (nice temperature), and the rides were of course outside (cooler temperature) so that could be the difference. I'll put in a fresh CR2032 and report back.

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

Wow, ok more confused now  I got a little handheld fan and tested a bit, but got what I think to be normal results both mounted and unmounted. This is not what (I thought) I was experiencing on the bike. Here's what I found: Off Mount (thus no external battery connected): Battery - 275 Offset...

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

Wind measurement technically has nothing to do with external batteries. External battery connecters can affect speed, cadence and HR as the unit receives wireless signals. In fact if the external battery were affecting operation you would probably get a WLS FAIL signal. This of course assumes that ...

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

NOTE: I've got a Gen II iPro So I've had just a little time to play with it, and I've come to realize that now with the external battery the wind sensor doesn't work... like at all. I recently went out just playing around with the iBike, and noticed low power on the flats, and '0' power on the downh...

Re: Downloading iBike data directly into WKO

I was wishing for something similar in SportTracks (direct download). After doing a little thinking on it though, I decided that the iBike does some valuable post-processing of the data, tilt correction for instance (Note that I'm using a Gen II iPro). If I were to directly download my data into WKO...

Re: Suggested Improvement

Seems like this is something that could be more easily downloaded from WeatherUnderground than recorded and stored on the iBike. With the earlier comments on black vs. white iBike, and sunny vs. shady, this might also be more accurate. I'm a little new here at the iBike forum, but I think there's al...

Re: Battery Life in Head Unit

Another external battery example: Supplies: Of course some of these may be optional, but this is pretty much what I used - Solder to connect wire to copper leads - super glue to stick copper leads to mount, and also to help hold the battery on - Inner tubes to wrap the battery, and wrap the mount to...

Re: iBike on Linux - update?

Bump. I would really love to see this as well. I had essentially made my WinXP box obsolete, and had to pull it back out and blow off the dust to support my iBike.
