the manual calibration is no fix either
my PT wheel is going back to Saris for service -- the torque values are way off, giving power ratings that are around 10% off
uh...my iBike was more accurate...
all these gizmo things have their issues

Re: DFPM calibration -- Power Tap
aha
I got a wheel on a discount and didn't get the PT head unit because I had the iBike
so, my numbers are pretty much rubbish until I buy a PT head unit
more money out the window then

feature request, then -- how about a setting for DFPM users to see raw torque values, so we don't need a second gizmo for calibration?

DFPM calibration -- Power Tap
I do the Pcal before each ride
How can I check if the PT itself is drifting -- since the "Stomp test" isn't possible with the iAero?
Been getting great watts in training...just want to make sure it's me, not the gadget going wacko

Re: Incorrect mileage numbers?
john -- boyd did an awesome job editing the profile to get the two PMs dialed in my concern was whatever glitch was going on with the profile when I changed the FTP to 355 and tried to send it to the iBike -- the dialogue box came up that the rider height value was 0, then another box came up that s...

same issue here
97 miles for this ride?
also, when I tried to adjust FTP up in my profile, it said that there was no height entered, and would not send the profile to the unit

DFPM and iBike power difference in short efforts
I haven't had a good non-windy, low-traffic day to do a DFPM cal ride with my iAero, but I've done a few outside rides with it and the Power Tap Pro+. Easy level 2-3 rides, the watts are very close -- the iBike a little low, but within 10 all the time. I did a sweet spot ride -- 45min averaging 315w...

Re: trainers
I was sceptical of the power numbers I've been getting on the trainer -- 330-340w for 2x20s I did an hour at 315 on a properly calibrated computrainer a month ago and HR+PE were in sweet spot territory, which seemed to validate a 330+ FTP the Kurt is a mystery. To pass the squeak test, it needs 4 tu...

Re: trainers
Yeah -- the KK. The main reason I took advantage of getting a PT Pro+ wheel through my old sponsor shop was to make sure I'm getting accuate watts on the trainer. 90% of my winter and fall work is inside, and there are too many variables with the trainer mode on the iBike. My iBIke outdoor power rea...

Re: trainers
I've seen a 10-20w difference at FTP if the back axle isn't snug against the tire. When I first put this winter's tire on, it only took 3 1/2 turns to pass the squeak test -- hold the tire at top center, rotate 1/4 turn, then smoothly -- in one motion, but don't jerk it -- rotate forward to the star...

DFPM on Trainer sans Cal Ride
I've got a PT wheel coming in to use now and then with the iBIke
looks like rain on the days when I could get out to do a cal ride
will it be fine on the trainer until I can get the cal ride in -- just pair it and do the grunt work?

Windows 7, Toshiba Satellite T115-S1100
I installed the Windows 7 driver and iBike 4 software on a new laptop, but when I try to download ride data I get a prompt that says the unit is not responding and needs to be connected to a com port in the 1-64 range. I tried plugging the USB adapter into each of the computer's 3 USB ports, and I g...

The best FTP figure is for a rested, all-out 60min effort.
Otherwise, the power that you can regularly and consistently produce during your 2 x 20s, 2 x 30s, 1x 45s, etc.. is a reasonable indicator of FTP.

Re: Quarq vs. PT with IAero
I was leaning towards the Quarq for those reasons, Boyd -- plus I've always dug Jonathan's. The original plan was to get the iBike as a head unit, then the Quarq. The rub is that price -- there's a good deal out there on SRAM 175s, but I use 172.5s -- 300 bucks more. For the price of that 172.5 Quar...

Quarq vs. PT with IAero
Looking over the DFPM instructions, the Quarq seems more user-friendly -- just backpedal 4 revolutions and do that occasionally during the ride. The PT looks a bit more trouble -- longer calibration sequence pre-ride (unless you want two head units), and then needing to rezero the torque throughout ...

great work john
flogging myself with your product has helped me go from 325w@FTP (71 kilos) in September to 335w. after some VO2 work in Jan-Feb, maybe I can put another 5w on that before the racing starts.
I dig this little black gadget.

any word on whether the tru trainer power curve will be in trainer updates?
I dig those, but if they're not compatible with the iBike trainer mode....

Re: Trainer Mode Cuts Off When On The Trainer
was on the back porch tonight fan on from the start -- trainer mode cuts off after 30min checked cal wind in setup -- it was way off. did another wind cal, it worked fine for another 25 min, enough to finish the 2nd of a 2x20 can the wind offset drift when the temp drops be fixed in the new firmware?

I'll second the DFPM recommendation. I've done that for trainers to create a spreadsheet. )Ou could then manually enter the data into WKO+.

man, thanks fernando
something must have been loose from the bike being on its side in my hatchback
all the charts and graphs whack my brain out
the more I have to possibly confuse me, the more confused I'll get
if the wattage numbers check, that's all I need to know

Re: weird wind readings on closed loop ride
I'm noticing 1-1.5 mph tailwind averages, now that I look at other ride files
should I load the new profile into my iAero, and change the profile for these files?
or, is the profile correction only needed for the Nov 3 ride file?

I haven't had this kind of wind reading before -- what may have been the likely culprit?

weird wind readings on closed loop ride
tuesday night ride
closed 1 mi loop
average 1.4 tailwind??
what's up with this?
bike was on it's side in the back of the car for 15min on the way there...then maybe not a full 10min to adjust to temp. The temp data is off -- ride started at 64 and dropped to 57 by the end.
