Re: Until I do an accurate calibration...

You'll find the "Est CdA" and "Est Crr" screens in the setup menus of an iSport or iPro. They are not available in the iAero (ya gotta do the work in the iAero!)

Re: Finding out weather conditions for past championship races

In iBike 3 use the Tools/Set Weather... command. Then, click the Weather History in Browser... button, then set the date and location you're looking for. You will get your old weather conditions.

Re: Until I do an accurate calibration...

If you have an iSport or iPro, use the Est CdA function to give you a good approximation of your aero drag, and use 0.006 for a good estimate of Crr (rolling resistance). Then, do the Cal Ride only, then get out and ride! After you do your coast downs you can use the newer profile with your older ri...

Re: what about water/rain?

The Gen III design has design changes to help prevent water from entering the mount/battery area.

If water gets in the wind port simply remove the iBike, blow out the water, then resume.

Re: Tilt Correction for Gen 3

The Gen III iBike includes most of the tilt correction algorithms of the iBike 3 firmware (we haven't yet figured how to stuff a PC into the iBike!). So, the Gen III does tilt correction in real time, at each second of your ride, to give you extremely accurate wattage readings right on the iBike scr...

Re: Tilt Correction for Gen 3

I'm not sure there is a simple way to answer this question but I will try. First: the "green line" MUST be jagged. The jags occur because of micro-accelerations caused by pulses in pedaling. Part of the reason the iBike is so accurate is because the accelerometer can respond to the power p...

A little silicone lubricant under the iBike, near the joints where the iBike fastens to the mount, will do the trick.

Re: Gen III intervals timing question

In the first release of the iPro we decided to include pre-programmed interval sets tied to fitness levels. We plan on a firmware update for the iPro that will make it possible to create user-defined interval sets, just as is the case with the iAero. In the mean time, you're correct that the Lap Tim...

Re: What power am I generating on a 53x15 @ 85rpm?

If you are cranking at 53 x 15 with an 85 cadence on a 700 x 23 wheel then your rear wheel speed is: 53 / 15 x 85 x 2.096 / 60 = 10.49 meters per second, or 23.5 mph. Now, you can use the trainer curve feature in iBike 3 (Device/Set Trainer...) to get your estimated power output at that rear wheel s...

I think the issue is your very short ride. This happened to me once when I did a short test ride, but when I did a longer ride all was normal.

moving Gen I and Gen II iBike profiles to Gen III

We've had a bunch of questions about moving profiles to the Gen III units. If you have a Gen II iBike the process is very simple: transfer your profile to your new Gen III, then just do a Calibration Ride (4 miles total, out-and-back). That's all you'll need to do! If you have a Gen I iBike transfer...

Re: iSport - firmware updates?

We don't anticipate providing firmware updates for the iSport. That's because there is no USB adapter cable or iBike software that ships with the iSport. If you purchase the optional "iSport to iPro upgrade" a USB adapter will be included with the kit, allowing you to convert your iSport t...

Re: Gen III tilt tip

Among other things each profile has its own riding tilt, so you need to do full calibrations for each profile. Once the calibrations are done, whenever you switch profiles the riding tilt for the "new" profile will be loaded automatically and the "old" riding tilt will still be s...

Gen III tilt tip

If you have a Gen III unit and have done your calibrations (tilt, offset, coast downs, cal ride) and created a profile then there is NO NEED to do a new tilt calibration on your bike... ever ...as long as you don't bump your bike badly or change the mount's position. In fact, as you ride the Gen III...

Re: Mount iBike upside down under the stem?

I had to sleep on this one before replying. There is no intrinsic reason the iBike would not work upside down. With the iBike in its upside down position you'll need to: 1) perform the tilt calibration 2) perform wind offset 3) do the cal ride You may get some differences in the aero and frictional ...

Re: Typical values for iBike parameters?

The colder the temperature gets the more rapidly the CR2032 battery looses its "oomph". 42F starts to get to be where the battery is not happy. If possible, and as a test, try putting a fresh battery into your iBike before doing the next calibration ride. It's possible that you've got a de...

Re: Typical values for iBike parameters?

You might want to check your battery. Your first o&b had a nearly zero riding tilt, and each progressive cal ride was "worse", indicating the possibility of a low battery. Is it cold where you are riding?

If you are getting a "bad cal" message at the end of your calibration ride then either your tilt calibration was incorrect prior to starting your cal ride or wind offset was wrong. Check your tilt calibration and wind offset prior to doing the cal ride.

Travis is a very smart guy.

It is indeed the case that strong EMI can screw up the (pretty small) signals from the wireless sensors. Boyd Johnson rides past TV towers and microwave towers on one of his training rides and it fouls up his wireless communications every time!

Re: Weird Heart Rate Data (a.k.a Is There A Doctor In The House?

It's very possible that your issue is that your jersey is creating static electricity that causes the weird spikes. This is characteristic of HR straps.

Make sure your strap is tight and that your jersey flops around as little as possible.
