A ride with my iBike and PowerTap
I have my trusty iBike Gen II on my bike as well as a variety of direct force power meters. Today, the DFPM was my PowerTap. Earlier this year I used one of the new features of iBike 2 to determine my drag coefficients with and out-and-back ride where the PT is used as the direct-force power referen...

Re: Riding in the rain
If you think you might be riding in the rain a simple precaution to take is to put tape around the iBike where it joins to the mount. This should keep water from leaking into the mount/iBike junction.

Re: Mac and iAero Won't Speak to Each Other
I am a life-long Mac user and I've been using my Mac with the iBike software since release 1.0.0 and with every release since then. No problems at any times. I don't, however, use my Mac with a VPN. Having answered hundreds of Windows tech support calls, I can tell you that they outnumber the Mac ca...

Try forcing the com port to a different number. This has worked for other users.

the iMount still exists but is for wired mounts only...only now you can make it in a stem mount version too.

Re: How to add new wireless IDs to old profiles
Suppose you have a good profile stored in iBike 2 but you change the battery in your one of your sensors (for example, you change the battery in your speed sensor). Or, you decide to put a Garmin sensor on your bike instead of your iBike sensors. NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING GARMIN SENSORS WITH YOUR IBIKE...

Re: Hill Gradient Suddenly went "WONKY"
Most likely it was low battery voltage. We say in the owner's manual that tilt readings can go crazy with low battery voltage. Battery voltage should be above 275 before riding, and in cold weather batteries go only a few hours so I'd recommend a stronger battery if possible. Note that batteries wil...

Re: The Why's and How's of Wind Offset
The number will never settle to zero precisely. Think of a candle flame; even when the air appears to be exactly still the flame still moves around a bit. So, you'll see the number drift around a few tenths. That is fine. I try to click the center button as briefly as possible. Pressing on the butto...

Low angle is probably best, mostly because it is easier to read. In either case the iBike 2 software and calibration procedure will make the necessary corrections to the wind scaling factor.

Re: Battery Voltage not Correct
It has ALWAYS been the case that battery voltage drops rapidly from the "new" state of 3V. In tests we did last year battery voltage dropped from 300 to about 280 after 15 minutes, then held stable for many many hours thereafter (at spring/summer temperatures).

Re: Hole on the Underside of iBike
As usual Travis is correct :-) This is a small hole through which the ambient air pressure is measured. The shape of the hole (or size) is not terribly important. It is covered on the other side to prevent moisture from entering. We have yet to have a single hole become blocked so don't worry if its...

WLS FAIL DURING RIDES
We've had a few cyclists report that they get unexpected WLS FAIL messages during their rides. When this happens the natural temptation is to start replacing batteries, do new pairings, etc. DON'T DO THIS!!! The problem is simple: most likely your sensors have gone to sleep because the bike has been...

Re: Cannot Pair with Garmin Strap
Marc: Your reply is helpful. The first time you paired your HR strap to your Garmin the HR strap sent its wireless ID to the 705. Any subsequent "rescan" simply awakens the 705 and instructs it to look for the previously determined ID. Since your iAero doesn't know the wireless ID of the s...

Re: Cannot Pair with Garmin Strap

Re: Validation of Coast down and 4-mile ride data
Carsten: Your rides were amazingly close. You had less than a 1% difference between aero and frictional drag between the two rides. The primary difference was due to a difference in riding tilt, which is indicative of a possibly different weight distribution on your bike (i.e. how you sat on the bik...

My strong guess is that one of the 81 trainers we have listed would be close to yours. What I would do is use your iBike outdoors to get a perceived level of workout, then experiment with a few curves to pick one that is close to yours. The fact is that most trainers are pretty close to each other i...

Re: Cannot Pair with Garmin Strap
We are captive to the pairing protocols that have been created by the ANT+Sport manufacturer (Garmin subsidiary Dynastream). I fully agree that the pairing procedure could be much more user-friendly, but creating that better procedure is something that Dynastream must do. Garmin has much more influe...

We'll have SRM/iAero firmware next week.
As Fernando points out, the reason to use the iAero is both so you can see your SRM data (!) and because the iAero works in tandem with the SRM to provide aerodynamic and power information.

Make sure your speed and cadence sensors haven't gone to sleep. Wave a magnet past them to keep them awake. If they go to sleep during the pairing process you will get the WLS FAIL message during the HR pairing though everything else is OK.

Travis is a PC, I am a Mac (music in the background please). The two versions of iBike 2 are developed with the identical development system.
