Hi John,

I have a PowerPod v3, will this work with the new wireless functions? I have connected today my pod to the latest Velocomp Aero but got no FW11 update notice. My PowePod is on FW 10.05.

This looks a very useful update, hope to be able to use it. Thanks.

Launch Velocomp Aero. You may see a message stating that VA update is available; if so, update VA to version 1.0.40. Do NOT attempt any firmware upgrade until you have installed VA 1.0.40

After updating VA you can confirm that you have version 1.0.40 by using "About Velocomp Aero"

You should then get a message to update to FW 11.

Once FW 11 is installed you will have limited Wireless functionality; everything except ride downloads and firmware uploads.

For full wireless functionality you will need to trade in to one of our wireless models.

Only after updating Aero to 1.0.41 I could see the update to FW 11 - wanted to say something else, for the first time, after a ride, Aero reported there was no ride to save from the device - power was recorded on my Garmin device though. I hope it was a one of only, I will keep you posted in case this issue is repeated.

All the best

Did you see power data during your ride?

Also, when you click the download icon, make sure your memory is not full.

I'm honestly surprised that nobody tapped into that yet... ;-)

I'm not particularly in need of another pitot tube, thankfully, but until I can get myself a new "desktop" or laptop running Windows I'll likely not be able to know how bad my situation is. To put it succinctly, I'm rather sure my unit won't qualify for the upgrade program—but I won't know for sure what the problem is until I can connect it to something running the "host" software. (Additionally, I see you're out of "fresh" ones, as of 2026-05-24, so the upgrade / replace idea is kinda moot for the time being anyway.) If I decide my problem is worth more discussion I'll open a new thread for it.

I just upgraded to FW 11.02 on my PowerPod and was gleefully surprised that I could connect to it via Bluetooth. The new phone app also looks interesting, but I imagine with my teeny phone screen, that I may stick with the laptop for now. However, I can see a real opportunity now that you can talk from a phone to the PowerPod/AeroPod in real time. My biggest concern about the PP/AP is the accuracy of the calibration data, and whether I can trust the reported Watts. Could you create a screen/operating mode for the phone software that displays the saved profile parameters (mass, CdA, Crr, mount tilt angle) as well as the dynamically modified parameters inside the PowerPod and the calculated error in the internal simulation vs real-world data (that I assume is already going on inside the unit). Then, if I've completed a ride where I end where I started, calculate new profile parameters and allow me to update the unit (basically, let me do a 40 km out and back calibration ride). Does this sound like something that people might want to have?

The assumption underlying an out-and-back cal ride is that wind conditions do not change during the ride. Over a long ride, such as 40KM, it is not reasonable to assume that wind conditions do not change. This is why we restrict cal rides to short courses of less than 10 KM. Adjusting profiles for after a 40KM ride may result in a worse, not better calibration.

That said, you'll find that the Velocomp Wireless app has all the features of Velocomp Aero. It is completely possible to extract, analyze, and adjust profiles from your smartphone, as well as check calibrations.

When I rotate my phone to "landscape" orientation it's easier to access all the additional VW features.
