Using a powertap

Post by millertmenow »

I have been using my iaero for a few weeks now and decided to try the wireless powertap and as soon as I started pedaling my speed would jump from 20 to like 70 or 80. Anyone else had this problem?

I have a wireless iAero and an ANT+ compliant PT as well. Have been using them both for quite a while and not experienced your problem.

1. Do you have both wireless speed and cadence sensors set up properly?
2. Did you Scan for new sensors (ie PT)?

I'm trying to think of what might be causing this. You may have to disable something in the PT itself so it doesn't send out a cadence signal. Try looking into that? Your iBike may be picking up a signal from PT that is cadence and reporting it as speed.

How do you actually get the iBike (I have an iAero) to use the Powertap speed and cadence? The iBike wireless scan only finds one thing (power). Does it automatically get the speed/cadence from the power link or should I see a separate "cad found" and "spd found" message?
