Speed Dropouts Mid-ride

This is not specifically a Gen 3 problem (as two of my friends have the same issue with their Gen 1's), but my setup is a Gen 3 upgrade. For a number of weeks now, I get speed dropping off the display after about 15-30 minutes of a ride, sometimes coming back for a little while, but never continuous. I took John Hamann's advice a while back and stuffed a little piece of folded up paper between the battery and the cover of the sensor, and while this appeared to work for a while with my older Gen 1, it never fully fixed it. In fact, I upgraded just to get PAST this and other niggling issues. Now my Gen 3 is consistently doing this to me, and two of my friends have basically decided to discard their Gen 1's for the same reason (my credibility is a bit shot with both of them for recommending iBike). Another friend has recently bought a Gen 3 but I am fearful he will suffer the same fate. For the guys like Travis and co, I have:
- changed batteries numerous times
- moved the sensor from chain stay to front fork
- replaced the head unit battery
None of these things have made a single bit of difference. I believe in the product, but what is my next move? I am based in Melbourne Australia, and don't really want to pack this setup off to the US unless absolutely have to.
