Gen II to III - new profiles required?

Post by philatlondon »

Just got my Gen III - will the profiles from Gen II give me reasonably sensible power readings or is it best to do some new ones? It's just that it's hard to find a relatively still day to do the calibration rides at the moment. I've not changed the mount. :?

Start with your Gen II profiles; they likely will work very well in your new Gen III.

Definitely required.

See my other post on this same topic. The wind scaling factor on my Gen II was just about 1, the wind scaling on my Gen III was just about .5 leading to drastically different answers. Despite asking I haven't been able to get an answer whether that large difference is normal...I'd be curious to see what you find so when you make your new profile please share.

Every unit is different when it comes to wind scaling because there's an actual mechanical device. My GenIII on the stem is at about .6 and my friends is at .57 so you're in the range.
