Calibration ride/coast down with DFPM
Calibration ride/coast down with DFPM
I am using a PT ANT+ and gen III iAero. I understand that with this setup I do not have to do the coast downs, just the 4 mile out/back ride. If I decide to use the iAero without the PT (such as if I am using a disc) I am assuming that I would shut off the PIN in WLS Cfg and turn on cadence (using the iBike sensor). Would I also have to do coast downs or a new 4 mile out/back ride? Or would my profie remain accurate from the use of the PT?
Re: Calibration ride/coast down with DFPM
You're correct that if you are using your iAero on a bike without your PT, just set Pin to "None" and your iAero will work just fine. Set Cad to Find (or Paird) to get your sensor working.
Since you are using a disc wheel your aerodynamic drag may be different so you should do a new set of coast downs and calibration ride.

Re: Calibration ride/coast down with DFPM
I just got my ANT+ Sport updater from Saris. Intend on updating it this weekend.
I also have a Wheel Cover for my PT wheel. I am going to do a fun experiment. I'm going to get into my race kit and aero helmet with Zipp front wheel and Wheel Cover on the back and do a profile setup. I'm then going to turn around and do another setup that will be my "normal" setup. It will be interesting to compare the two profiles to see how much difference the aero helmet/disc wheel makes.
Then it will be fun to use Continuous Cda measurements to check on position changes, equipment changes etc. Fun fun fun!

Not only fun (well about as much fun as you can have making 40 runs on a two mile section of road), but productive as well. I have been able to tweak my aero position to save 30 seconds on a ten mile time trial while pushing the same power.
