upgrade firmware 3.01 to 4.00+?

Is this process safe...I havent upgraded since this ipro is new and didnt come with usb, I have a usb now but wonder if there are instructions on how to upgrade from 3.01 to 4...its kind of a drastic upgrade. Do I simply plug this in my computer and the i bike sofware will automatically detect it and upgrade for me? ...please let me know ! thanks in advance.

Download iBike 4 software, from here:

Install the iBike 4 software. If you have any questions about this process please contact us at technicalsupport@velocomp.com

After uploading the iBike 4 software, go to Device/Check Online for Firmware Update...you'll get the latest FW version installed in your iBike automatically.

Since you are upgrading from FW 300, you will find considerable changes and improvements! In iBike 4 use the Help/instructions to find out all the improvements.

nevermind, i got it working...had to 'connect' first...i have my serial and will be sending to you soon. i want to get the trainer software in my ipro...

ok nevermind about the trainer data stuff...i thought i had to purchase the ibike trainer...but that is already installed from the software...unless im getting confused with this... http://www.ibikesports.com/detail.aspx?ID=27 please tell me that isport only requires this. i read somewhere it was optional with ipro but was it free or is it free? it is equipped with iaero though... so im trying to find the correct trainer ..i use a nashbar, not fluid, liquid or anything fancy..its the magnetic resistance one...there is only one nashbar called 'mag2" is this assumingly MAGnetic for mag?? sorry just want to make sure i'm doing it right...

Yeah, I'm a bit confused with that also. The instruction sheet which came with the ipro upgrade indicates that upon sending your serial number obtained from the ibike software ( I used version 4, which I already had on the computer) to Velocomp, I would be sent the "trainer key". I did this, but I haven't received any key to unlock ipro features, and download ride data. In any case, I went ahead and also purchased the trainer firmware upgrade, but I haven't received that yet either. But if they arrive by email in the next few days (hopefully), I will let you know if I've spent to much .

I think the confusion was all my own. The upgrade went flawlessly. In hindsight I think the quick start sheet serves a dual purpose- instructing on both the ipro upgrade and the installation of the indoor trainer firmware, given the process is exactly the same. The indoor firmware is an additional cost to the ipro upgrade, but well worth it.
