After switching from iBike Aero to Dash about a three weeks ago, I am very impressed with the new product. Took a few retries to get a good cal ride (mostly due to changing wind conditions and heavy traffic), so the power readings (especially using the gauge display) are looking good. However, there are still some unanswered questions. The iBike Dash instructions (2 page PDF) provide mostly mounting instructions. The app is very intuitive, but after searching the forum, I feel that I have to post some questions:

- What does HRT mean in the "Check iDash Settings"? Is it the max or treshold HR? How does it affect the colors in the HR display?

- Zero wind does not display the current wind pressure. How long to wait before zeroing the wind out?

- What does blue marker in the power gauge mean? Is it smoothed power; how many seconds?

- How to "burn" a match in the matches display?

- Sometimes when the bike is stopped, the Options button at the bottom-center will not show up, to hit the end of the ride. What is the best way to "declare" the end of the ride? Is it safe to remove the iPhone before closing the App? One of my rides had "Error 42 occurred at ZLIB Inflate__ogtk.vi in iDemail inflate email file.vi->iDemail scan email file.vi->iDemail convert to iBike data.vi->iDemail dyncall convert to iBike data.vi->iBike top-level VI.vi" when I tried to append that ride. Not sure if it was related to closing the ride file

- How often do you have to do Tilt Calibration? If I enter bike setup, to change metric/english, and continue through the options, I see that Tilt Calibration has an X mark. Does it mean it has expired the next day?

- Will there be any way in the future to pick the color coding (HR, Power) by user?

- Will there be any way in the future to change the font size in Configure Screens?

Thanks,
Denny

HRT is Threshold Heart Rate, not maximum. If you create a display that uses an "HR gauge" then the HRT will be the Green zone. This should also affect intervals based on HR.

As far as I can tell zeroing wind is almost instantaneous. I find a calm area, cup the wind port and wait about 5 seconds, then hit the button. It seems to work fine.

I've asked about the "blue" line and haven't gotten an answer. I think it's 30s AVG power but it might be less than 30s. Since I don't know what it is I haven't paid attention to it. ;)

Burn a match:

To end a ride, just press on the center of the screen for a couple of seconds. You will be prompted. The bug with the Options word under the time is being fixed in an upcoming release.

You only need to do a tilt calibration once even though it appears that you need to do it again since the screen shows a red "X". It does not expire.

I've asked for color coding also and I believe that is planned for a future release.

The font size was changed from regular to bold, I'm not sure there's room for much more. I know my old eyes yearn for a larger font but it seems once I get "used" to knowing which numbers are in which little square it all seems OK.

I'm also wondering whether it's actually necessary to zero wind before every ride as I haven't noticed any significant difference in the power readings during the times that I didn't do this.
Will be good to hear the official word on this.

My experience with the iDash has been that it's not nearly as sensitive to barometric changes as the iBike. So if the conditions don't change much from day to day you can probably get away without doing wind cals. It doesn't take long to do so it's not a a bad idea either.

Another thing I've noticed since switching from iAero is that when opening the iDash file in iBike software V5.0.0 that it doesn't automatically "Analyze Route" even when the box is ticked in Preferences section as it would for iBike files downloaded from iAero unit attached to the PC.

There is always a difference when manually going into "Tools - Analyze Route" when processing the iDash files.
