Trnr Mode
If I go to the setup screen and then User on to set Trnr mode either off or on, I get stuck in the Trnr mode status screen and can't get out. I believe that reset works, but isn't that also wiping out my profile data and resetting the clock?
Re: Trnr Mode
Once selecting trnr on/off with the arrows, make sure to confirm your selection by clicking the center button. That should do the trick.
Re: Trnr Mode
Note: If you leave the unit in TRNR mode after your exercise and the unit shuts off, it will display TRNR ON when you turn the unit on and you also have to press the center button as a confirmation. This also happens if you do a ride reset to start a new ride.

Re: Trnr Mode
Thanks fellas, but if any of those things were working I wouldn't have posted this topic.
When I navigate to the trnr mode screen I have to press and hold the center button to get the mode to start blinking. So far so good. Then I press the up or down arrow to change the the mode to on or off. When the mode I want is blinking, I press the center button again - at which time the mode stops blinking. If I press the center button again, nothing happens; I remain on the trainer mode screen. At some point in this sequence I would have expected to have been returned to the main screen. Repeatedly pressing the center button has no effect. If I hold the center button, the trnr mode screen just starts flashing again. If I hold the up arrow, I just wind up in setup mode again.
Eventually I find a way to get back to the main screen, but I couldn't tell you how. The last time I faced this dilemma I connected the Newton to my computer and used Isaac to set the trainer mode. After that it managed to find its way back to the main screen. On other occasions I've activated the speed/cadence sensor. Usually it acknowledges the sensors then goes right back to the trnr mode screen.
Sometimes I wonder whether there's something preventing the Newton from moving past the trnr screen - like a missing profile of something - but I just don't know. I'm not at the point where I'm prepared to eliminate the possibility of human error, but I'm approaching the end of my rope. It might be significant to note that my Newton has been powering up into the trnr mode screen. I've always thought that was a nice feature because it prevents me from inadvertently hitting the toad with the trainer mode on - or vice versa.

Re: Trnr Mode
I had not read this before submitting my most recent reply. It explains why the unit boots up into the trnr mode screen. I still think it's more difficult to get off of that screen than it should be, but I'll keep fiddling with it to make sure I'm not doing something out of sequence.racerfern wrote:Note: If you leave the unit in TRNR mode after your exercise and the unit shuts off, it will display TRNR ON when you turn the unit on and you also have to press the center button as a confirmation. When your unit wakes up from sleep, and was in trainer mode prior to going to sleep, you will see the "trnr on" message. To confirm that you want the trainer mode enabled, click the center button.I had not read this before submitting my most recent reply. It explains why the unit boots up into the trnr mode screen. If you want to turn trainer mode off, press-hold the center button for a few seconds. The word "on" will start to flash. Use the up arrow to select "off", then click the center button to accept.

Okay, I just woke up the Newton. It opened on the trnr mode screen. I pressed the center button and it went straight to the main screen. Figures. No sooner than I post this topic that I look foolish.Velocomp wrote:When your unit wakes up from sleep, and was in trainer mode prior to going to sleep, you will see the "trnr on" message.
