Wind Offset
Quick question about wind offset. I zeroed the offset after about 15 minutes once the unit was at outside temperature, but when I did the detailed wind analysis in iBike 2 the offset showed -4. Why is this? For info, I was riding in a group today.
Re: Wind Offset
I think you answered it. When drafting the effective airspeed will be lower than your traveling speed.
Re: Wind Offset
If you are in a group your avg ground wind will be substantially lower to the point that even in a nasty headwind you would show a ground wind with a negative number meaning you are going faster than the wind ie. an effective tailwind. However, that is not wind offset. Wind offset is when you purposely change the calibration of the unit or perhaps switch to a different profile. I checked a number of my rides and wind offset is always zero unless I manipulate it. Avg ground wind is the result of the wind speed of my ride.
Also while looking at the wind speed analysis screen you can highlight a section and look at the wind for that section. If you have an out and back section that the wind speed is effectively zero then highlight the section and in the avg ground wind type "0". Now iB2 will use that info to make a correction for the entire ride.
