Garmin Connect IQ means that you could transmit non ANT+ stuff via private ANT, which would mean you could send other interesting data like wind and CDA. Obviously it is a Garmin ecosystem and would not work with other makes, but lots of people have them, their interfaces are easy/touch-screen, they have GPS built in and some even do routes.
There's extra data that only the Newton gives and I imagine there are people who would want to stick with another bike computer brand who would consider buying one for that data.
(I don't have a garmin so not asking for personal gain)
