Watt too high when I ride on flat road

Post by F4B1O »

Hello.
During my last rides I have been remarking that my RPE is too low compared with power outputs, on a flat road.
Usually when I'm climbing I can hold 240W for 20', instead when I'm riding on a flat road I'm able to put 250W for a long time.
I think that I have some problem of calibration of my powerpod.
How could I resolve this problem?
Could you help me please?

I attach my last ibr file.

Thank you
Fabio

I looked at your ride file.

First: congratulations, you are a strong rider!

What is your height and weight? It may be that the CdA value is a bit high.

Thank you!
The ride is strong probably because on uphill climbings I made my FTP test. :D
The strange thing is that the highest average power in the twenty minutes I got it, is in the final part of the ride, on the flat terrain, and my RPE and heart rate are very low compared to the uphill parts.

I'm a little cyclist, 161cm (5'4) and my body weight 57,3 Kg (126,1 lbs).

Thank you

As I suspected...your CdA setting (0.369) is for a person much larger than you. This is why you get unexpectedly high watts on the last section.

I ran the "Device/Setup Newton..." command, where you can enter your correct weight, height and ride position. These parameters determine your CdA.

The correct CdA for you is 0.306.

When this lower CdA is applied to your ride file, your FTP test on the hill is the highest part of the ride, and in the downhill section, watts are lower.

Corrected ride file is attached, as well as corrected profile.

Import the profile into Isaac using the Edit/Edit Profiles command, then connect your PowerPod to Isaac and use the "Send to Device" command to load the profile into your PP.

All will be well.

Thank you for your support
Now the data seem realistic.
Tomorrow I will try the new profile on the road!

Just out of curiosity: The calculation of the CdA 0.306 is made with Isaac Analyze->check calibration->Aerodynamic resistance->Estimated?

Thank you

No, it's done in the "Device/Setup Newton..." command.
