New Owner

Post by cmpatti »

After coveting one for many months, I finally took the plunge and received my new PowerPod last week. I've done an out-and-back calibration ride and a long loop ride (no drafting in either case). Both were in quite windy conditions, and I wanted to check whether things look good or whether I should think about recalibrating when we get some calmer days. Some of the instantaneous power numbers looked questionable during the blustery parts of the ride, but I figure that may just be an unavoidable consequence of the conditions. On the plus side, having the power numbers in front of me did encourage me to a new PR on one of my favorite local climbs!

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

It looks like you had some strong head/tailwinds, but Overall I think you're OK.

If you do a ride on a calmer day, please post that ride file when convenient.

John,

Taking you up on your offer to share the file for another ride, this one much less windy. It's an out-and-back. The average power numbers seem unreasonably high. Based on this ride my Garmin fenix5 upped my estimated FTP from 238 to 323, which is complete wishful thinking, I'm afraid. Any diagnosis? I did notice that I was getting very high power numbers during fast descents. Should I try another O&B calibration ride?

Thanks!

Chris
