Hey John, Thanks. no hurry, raining up here.
Re: VeloComp Tracker
Hello John,
Since the servers have fixed, I've notice an issue with the app. Newton Tracker . It starts, the recording time starts, then after some time, it stops. I get maybe 0.25 mi. down the street, and the recording has ended. I appear to be logged in. Mid ride, I'll restart it, only to check later and it's off. In Velocomp, only a short distance is recorded .
Any ideas ? Thanks. KB

Re: VeloComp Tracker
This is not a problem with the server.
I would check your NT app settings. Make sure auto pause is off.

Re: VeloComp Tracker
Now I'm really lost . Are you talking about the phone (I use Android) apt ? I don't see a page like that ((Ver 1.2). I have "welcome", "setup (Acct info)"and "record". Everything was working fine, until I ended my season last year. (Same thing on my indoor trainer, I leave it for 5 mos, and something doesn't work ).
Oh well, we'll figure it out.
PP is working super.

Re: VeloComp Tracker
This was a guess on my part. I use the iOS app and don't have access to an Android phone.
If there is no comparable setting in Android then my suggestion is of no value. Sorry!

Re: VeloComp Tracker
That's odd. It was working perfect, on my last ride in Nov. 2024. Nothing has changed. So I'm dead in the water ?? Thanks KB
Re: VeloComp Tracker
Now I have AI, I presented the issue and got this response :It's frustrating when an app like Newton Tracker stops recording after a short period! This is a common issue with many recording apps on Android and can be caused by several factors. Here are some ideas and troubleshooting steps you can try:
Common Causes & Solutions:
Battery Optimization/Power Saving:
Android's aggressive battery optimization is often the culprit. Android might be putting "Newton Tracker" to sleep or restricting its background activity to save power, causing it to stop recording.
Solution: Go to your phone's Settings > Apps (or Apps & notifications) > Newton Tracker > Battery (or "Battery usage," "Battery optimization," "Power saving").
Look for an option to "Disable battery optimization" or set it to "Unrestricted" or "Don't optimize" for Newton Tracker.
Also, check "Sleeping apps" or "Unused apps" in your phone's overall Battery settings and ensure Newton Tracker is not listed there.
App Permissions:
Ensure Newton Tracker has all necessary permissions, especially Microphone, Storage, and potentially Camera (if it records video). If it's a fitness tracker, it might need Location access to be set to "Always allow" or "Allow all the time."
Solution: Go to Settings > Apps (or Apps & notifications) > Newton Tracker > Permissions. Grant all relevant permissions.
Storage Space:
If your phone's internal storage is nearly full, it can cause recording apps to stop prematurely.
Solution: Check your available storage (Settings > Storage). If it's low, clear out unnecessary files, photos, videos, or uninstall unused apps.
App-Specific Limitations (Trial/Free Version):
App Cache and Data:
Corrupted app cache or data can lead to various app malfunctions.
Solution: Go to Settings > Apps (or Apps & notifications) > Newton Tracker > Storage > Clear Cache first. If that doesn't work, try Clear Data (be aware this will reset the app to its default state and you might lose some settings or recorded data if it's not backed.
SO I did find that it (NT) was put to sleep, and made other checks as AI suggested. Walked for 5 mins. and it did not stop. It's been stopping after 30 sec. I planned a ride tomorrow, to test. KB. I activated this App last year, and it sat all winter.

Re: VeloComp Tracker
Thanks John, I'll let you know tomorrow , how smart it was. I've used it a lot, when setting up Linux computers.
Re: VeloComp Tracker
Good day, John. Well, still not working. And went down the complete list of checks, as suggested by AI (ChatGpt). only one item left, un-install and re-install (that was a bite of a challenge the first time). Maybe I"ll save that for a rainy day. But, I have discovered , I can get the gps data to make the map work by Device > Get Gps data from activity file. So I can live with that until I get a chance to review the NT App installation process. Anybody else having issues with NT on an Android phone ? Ken.

Yes, you can get GPS data from any .FIT file.Kcblair wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:20 pm Good day, John. Well, still not working. I'm not aware of any others with Android NT issues.
