Trainer Mode On/Off ?

Post by John Mac »

I have addressed this before and have attempted the proposed fix to no avail. This week in a turn of bad weather I resorted to riding my rollers. I turned on the trainer mode mounted the PP and it obviously was not in trainer mode. After re-connecting and turning trainer mode on again, it worked. Two days later, after a couple of rides on the rollers it was time to head out on the road. The night before (last night actually) I connected the PP and turned trainer mode off. Today, I loaded my bike and drove to a friends house to ride and when we headed out it became apparent that the PP was still in indoor mode. During the ride I attempted a hard reset as was suggested before but it didn't work, except for completely reset the date/time in the unit. It continued to function in trainer mode. I tried the hard reset two more times with the same result.
I've currently connected the PP and turned trainer mode off again as well as set the correct date/time but haven't the slightest idea yet if it has taken. Please advise. I like your product, but am frustrated with it currently. I'm currently following a training plan and really can't afford to be set back again and again by an apparent glitch that is impossible to detect until I'm out on the road.
I'm also still having problems with the mount. I have to tighten it with a screwdriver in order for it not to rotate due to road vibration
Please Help...

As Requested, here are three pics of the mount on the PP. I don't recall exactly what it looked like out of the box. I can confirm now, that it is all but impossible to tighten the mounting screw down enough to keep the PP from moving fore/aft on the road due to vibration. It seems to be worsening. If I crank it down any tighter it will certainly strip the threads on my mount. The mount on my tandem must be of softer aluminum as I was able to apply some extra torque with a screwdriver to hold it in the proper position.

I've done two more rides, using the info above, since my last post and was able to wedge a very, very small piece of friction tape into the back of the PP mount square side at the top to keep it from moving. It worked but is very impractical to use as a fix. There was some power fluctuation as I rode, but it may have been due to WX. It was a gusty, strong wind ride. Unsure really.

I'll post the other two pics of the PP mounted on the bike separately (3 attachment limit).

Cheers,
John
