Need some help with powerpod

Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, I apologize if its not. I have had a powerpod for about 3 years. For the first 2 years it worked very well, reliable and gave me consistent data. Then I made the 'mistake' of trying to improve, hooked it up to issac for newton and tried to calibrate it better. That was a year ago and while we don't ride in the winter, I have never been able to get it reading accurately or consistently since then. Finally last week I read everything, cleared out the device and recalibrated, 3 times trying to make sure everything was done correctly. It seemed to go fine but today I was getting results that were clearly off. I can't put out 1500 watts, and certainly not down hill and not pedalling. It goes all over the place in terms of power as well, ie no consistency. Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do? I bought this on line so not sure where to proceed. For what its worth I run it with a garmin 1000 and that has never been an issue. Thanks in advance.

Please post a .ibr ride file from Isaac and we will help you.

I hope these are what you meant. They are a ride today and my calibration ride a few days ago. Thanks so much.

Something is wrong with your speed sensor.

Your downhill speeds are approaching 80 mph!

Thanks so much. I will check it out and see how that works.

I looked at my speed sensor and it seems okay. By that I mean it shows speeds I would expect while riding and the data it shows on garmin connect or strava show realistic data. Could it be that I need to resync the powerpod with the sensor. I hope this makes sense. Thanks

Gary

Your Isaac ride file shows downhill speeds of 80 mph...that is race car, not bicycle, speeds!

Do the following:

1) take the battery out of your speed sensor, insert it backwards for a moment, then reinsert normally. This resets the speed sensor

2) Press-hold the PP button for about 12 seconds. The light will go out, then start blinking again. Let go of the button. This resets the PP

3) To reset the date/time of PP, connect it to Isaac

4) Do another ride and post the .ibr ride file.

Wonderful. Thanks so much. It will be a couple of days but will do. This is terrific help.

Reset the cadence. Speed works fine. Held the button for twelve seconds and got the appropriate response. I hooked it up to Issac but did not hit any resets. Not sure if that was correct but then could not get any power information. Sorry if I seem dense but was I supposed to set up the device again? Thanks
Gary

It sounds like you need to do a new sensor pairing (press-hold 4 seconds)

I did the new sensor pairing and here is the file. I looked at the speed on my garmin when I was 'hitting' over 1000 watts - it was only about 34 km/hr. Thanks as always, sorry to be such a pain. They were all one ride, not sure why it got broken up into 3 files.

I'm not sure how it happened but your unit is grossly miscalibrated; wind speed is a constant headwind (see image).

I have guessed at a correction. Load the attached profile in your unit and post a new ride file afterwards.

I too am having issues. I am reading high power on downhill sections. Over 1500 on one ride. Worked fine for a few years then suddenly stopped reading power. So reconnected speed and cadence sensor and still all over the place.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your wind calibration is wrong; I can tell because there are headwind "flames" constantly.

I adjusted your profile. Load it into your PP and all should be well.

Thanks. Do i just open the file in Newton and go through the setup and then send to device?

Also how would this happen.

1) Move the profile to your desktop
2) Connect PP to Isaac
3) Go to "Device/Unlock Feature..."
4) Navigate to the profile and then follow the steps to transfer the profile to your PP

Thanks I loaded the profile you sent. Will I need to recalibrate the unit? Finally getting a chance to ride again. Somewhat off topic, and I hope this is okay to ask but given my limited time (life getting in the way of riding lately) wonder what you think about just buying a new V2 powerpod. If this has a good chance to fix things great but not averse, I have enjoyed the unit for a number of years. Again hope this is not inappropriate to ask.

The profile I sent you should fix things, without a new cal ride. Please load the profile, do a ride, then post the ride file. I will check it.

If you're ready for a new PM, wait a bit for AeroPod. It is AMAZING.

Hi,

I went to Device, Unlock feature, and it's looking for a get unlock status or send unlock key. the file it looks for is a .enc file.

So i clicked on the profile you sent titled sincy and it seemed to load this. However i am still getting spurious power readings. See attached file.

It looks like you are riding in some strong winds, so making adjustments is a bit difficult.

Please do a short (3 miles is fine) ride, where you ride out for 3 miles, then ride back on the same route. Please post that ride file and we will sort things out.

OK. I tried to load the profile again and went for a ride the other night. It seemed to work. I'll post my short ride over the weekend and see what you think.

I think you are OK.

Did you hit some rain at the end of the ride?

No, just sunshine uncharacteristically. Thanks for all the help.
