First FTP test

I have just done my first FTP test at our local velodrome. 20 minute test, all criteria met, also got a VO2 max reading as well.

FTP calculated reading of 160 (I am 63 young and just resumed riding to supplement my running pursuits. So whilst not real high FTP, it is a starting point for me). My view VO2 max is 47, my running VO2 IS 49, very happy with these.

The interesting questions raised from this test, using the raw data via Isaac and the 95% calculation is 160. My Garmin edge 830 gives an auto FTP figure of 200. Which figure shouldI be using?? And if using the raw data calculation of 160, doI need to turn off the auto calculating FTP feature in the Garmin??

I would be very interested to see the ride file of your FTP test. Please post it...

Hi,
Here is the file. the FBT part was from kilometre 6 - 18'ish, fairly obvious when you look at the readings.

I looked at your ride file. Your PP is properly calibrated.

As you know, your average watts for the FTP test was 173W. Your DFPM recorded 167W for the same test. The difference results from a slightly high CdA in your PP; adjust your CdA in your profile to about .323 and you'll get the same watts.

I have no idea how Garmin calculates FTP, but there is no way it should tell you your FTP is 200W. I would use the Isaac number, and turn off auto FTP in the Garmin.
