I recently managed to break the speed sensor arm of the Coospo spd/cadence sensor that I had paired to my PPV5. I didn't want to remove and throw away the sensor because the cadence sensor was still working according to my Bryton head unit. So I snipped the wire that the sensor arm was hanging by and tossed the sensor arm in the bin .
Then I reattached my old magnet-less speed sensor to the rear hub (I have a generator front hub so can't put the speed sensor on the front axle). I then tried to pair the speed sensor and the surviving cadence Coospo sensor but the PPV5 could not find the cadence sensor. I was able to pair my magnet-less speed sensor and HRM to the PPV5 but not the cadence sensor. I tried editing the profile and entered the Ant+ ID from the spd/cadence sensor into the profile and sent that to the device but it still didn't find it. I found a post on this forum that suggested that Isaac couldn't set 6-digit Ant+ IDs properly in the profile but the Coospo spd/cadence sensor only broadcast a 4 digit ID and that still didn't work.
In the meantime, my Bryton head unit happily paired with the speed sensor on the rear hub and the Coospo cadence sensor. I checked the Bryton settings and the cadence was still registered as a spd/cadence sensor but the readings must broadcast on different channels and the cadence was coming through so that was displaying on the Bryton head unit.
I went for a ride after the cal ride and the power numbers look reasonable compared to what was recorded from the spd/cadence sensors. I switched to Coospo speed/cadence sensor after a discussion with John on this forum regarding speed drop-outs I was seeing with the magnet-less sensor but it wasn't a great experience using the magnet driven speed/cadence sensor. I would have to adjust the wheel magnet or the sensor to get the speed to register often enough that it was a nuisance. I'd be prepared to live with the speed drop-outs from the magnet-less sensor as it doesn't seem to change the total work output for a ride even if the power numbers fluctuate a bit during the ride.
I'm wondering if there's any way that I can pair only the cadence sensor from the Coospo spd/cadence sensor with the PPV5? It seems like the PPV5 is ignoring the cadence sensor from the spd/cadence sensor if the speed values are coming from a different sensor. Can this be overcome somehow?
