I just got the two upgrades one for V3 and the other for Aeropod.
Q: is the pitot tube needed or mandatory for aeropod? I do not ride in the rain.
Thanks

Not mandatory. You should get better crosswind readings with pitot tube attached.

Using the Garmin Vector 3, the numbers (watts) in a cross wind are basically the same as with the AP. Except for live CdA I do not have too much use of the Garmin, I just use the AP as my main power meter.

PowerPod V3 does not come with a pitot tube. AeroPod+ has pitot tube and powerstroke and GPS Tracker. As a power meter both function the same way.
