does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
does the Newton power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode? I am wondering if then you could send the power reading on the trainer to online utilities like trainer road or Zwift. In the latter case you can not work with the calculations to ensure a more correct power out from a dumb trainer using a power curve. While in the Newton and Isaac you have access to fine tune things like wheel circumference, and tweak the curve.

Yes, it will function just fine even when in trainer mode.

thanks for the quick response John, I will give it a try, is there any specific setting I should be aware of, ie screen where I enable the ant+ out on either the Newton or Isaac?

If you have FW 5 then it will "just happen".

Re: does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
I have not yet upgraded to ver 5, is that the only way, will it work with ver 4.x?
Re: does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
I'm still on 4.x and had no problem pairing Newton to my laptop (with USB ANT+ dongle)
So no specific Newton settings - I didn't even set to trainer mode as GC on the laptop was doing the power profile and logging the ride direct.
(GC picked up the Newton, my HRM and the speed/cadence all separately)
You might want to check how Newton in trainer mode interacts with profiles (if you have multiple) to ensure you are getting the wheel size etc you intend.

For 4.x you will need the GT key installed on your Newton.

Re: does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
thanks again John, I am pretty certain my iBike Newton + has the GT key is here an easy way to confirm it? I have never used it.
Re: does the power out option via ant+ work in trainer mode
Connect your Newton to Isaac. Go to Device/Unlock Feature... Click on "Check Unlock Status". Your Newton's features will be listed

Thanks again John, yes it has the GT feature.
