PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
Hi John,
this is the third time that this issue happend (in 2 years).
I was riding and suddenly the garmin showed "0w" ...
I disconnected the ppv4, continued riding and a couple of minutes later, the garmin showing " --- watts" (ok when no connection), forced to connect again....
no changes... the garmin showed 0w (also the IQ fields for slope and wind were stucked at the last figures...i think slope -0,4 and wind about 6kmh, never changed thorugh the final stop).
Tryed to turn off the ppv4 with the 5 time button...nothing happened...no lights at all.
Tryed touching the button for 15 seconds....nothing. The garmin always was showing the 0watts
Entered the garmin ppv4 "status" to check and said " cannot see the details now" ,
The ppv4 was active....in a freeze mode.
At home, connected the ppv4 to the computer, i could download the file (it has the data and the name says "0 km". attached!
The total km were around 90km. I think the file has the tracking up the " freeze" moment)
What happened? dont know....
PS> when the file end to download, the isaac allowed me to do the firmware update to v803.
Thank you!!

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
Just to be clear, you downloaded this ride file BEFORE you did the firmware 803 update? Is that correct?
If so, please send the ride file you did prior to this ride.

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
Yes...downloaded just before the upgrade.
This is the prior ride...last week.
Thank you.

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
For the 9/26 ride you just posted, did you download this ride last week, or just now?
I need an old ride file downloaded from the time prior to when you did the most recent FW upgrade to 8.03

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
Your previous ride file shows that you were running FW 8.01 on the day when your unit "froze".
Prior versions of FW had a (very infrequent) issue where the ride could randomly freeze.
We think we have this issue corrected in 8.03. Let me know if you have any further issues.

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
John,
todays ride... do you see anything wrong?
the headwind was weird today.... in a 5k loop, it seems to be mostly headwinds... is it ok?
thanks!

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
It looks like you used Check Calibration to adjust your ride. In your case that improved things. Upload the adjusted profile to your unit and that will help you in future rides.

Todays ride was for about 115k.... suddenly at km55 the watts indicator went to 0w....no way to reset it. push the button for 5 times and nothing.... 15 second button pushing and also nothing happened (the light was off, never come up)
then at home, i connected... nothing.... then near 1 minute later it was recognized and i could download the file
Heres the file.

Re: PPv4 freezed in the mid ride
Hmm...
If I understand things correctly, it sounds like you did a hard reset (press-hold for 12 seconds) during your ride, but that PP did not come back to life after hard reset.
When you finished your ride you connected PP to Isaac, and after about a minute things started to operate again.
If these details are correct then I suspect your battery voltage became too low during the ride. Connecting it to Isaac allowed it to recharge enough, such that you could retrieve your partial ride file.
