Thanks John. The stats on page 16 of the Issac Software PDF have a positive value of +14 KJ but the example on Page 15 is -19.3 KJ and is referenced in the text. Makes more sense to me now.

I have set up my Powerpod to best accuracy on two bikes. Power curve very similar to data from DFPM over last 6 weeks. I'm intrigued though that I get negative values for energy spent on braking. All my rides have been in rain and sleet so far. On the occasions I have had momentarily odd power readings a gentle tap on the side of the powerpod has settled it down. Thanks John. Indeed I can only find a few mentions of similar problems in the forum using various search strategies. What actually happens? Does it fry the PCB? I have ordered a replacement and passed the old one on to a friend to dissect before it goes to the recycling centre.
