Re: iBike sensors with other power meters
Just for the record - the iBike speed sensor will pair with a wireless SRM.

iBike sensors with other power meters
Will the iBike speed sensor work with other power meters? Specifically, with an SRM? That is, can a SRM PC7 head unit be paired with and pick up speed from an iBike speed sensor? Thanks.

Re: Being driven crazy by numbers - Profile, Power, etc
My stem definitely goes up. It is a +8 degree stem. I tried to attach a couple ride files and a MS Word doc that compares the low-speed efforts and compares high-speed efforts from my Sept 4 ride that had both the iBike and a Powertap rear wheel. I used WKO to find the same segments of the ride and ...

Re: Being driven crazy by numbers - Profile, Power, etc
Oops! Forgot that I found this web site: http://www.biketechreview.com/tires_old/images/AFM_tire_testing_rev9.pdf which says a Zipp Tangente tubular (which I'm running) should have a CRR of approx 0.00288. My iBike profile has a Crr of 0.0056. But the PT said the iBike was 3w low in the climbing run...

Re: Being driven crazy by numbers - Profile, Power, etc
My current Profile has a Cda of 0.283. Sorry for not including that in the first place because that was kind of the point of my post. Since the PT showed I was 12w low at speeds over about 15mph, I'm wondering if I should increase the CdA value. Hopefully I will go faster with the Zipp disc on the r...

Re: Being driven crazy by numbers - Profile, Power, etc
I will do a Tilt and extract the Tilt from the iBike per your recommendation. Thanks! Can I correct the file for last Thursday's race? Will "Switch Profile After The Ride" fix it? Except I think I would be applying the same profile name - will the software figure out the Tilt is different ...

Being driven crazy by numbers - Profile, Power, etc
I put a PT wheel on my TT bike, lowered the front end via flipping the stem, widened the elbow pads, and went for a ride. The iBike didn't register any power for the first 5 minutes or so, but I expected that because it thought I was going down hill due to flipping the stem and not doing a Tilt. But...

Re: ride analysis software
BTW, when you use your mouse to drag-and-drop an interval onto the iBike chart to see min/avg/max power and speed and HR and cadence and such, you can then right click and "Create Annotation" which will display on the chart. Thus, you could do several annotations with average and max power...

Re: iBike locking up when turning trainer mode on and off
Thanks for the reply. I understand that the Profile doesn't affect power readings in Trainer mode, but the Profile still determines which wireless sensors the iBike looks for. I don't like fumbling around to switch the trainer wheel to the disc wheel right before the race, so I was using my road bik...

Re: Shopping for Power
I don't think your question regarding profiles was completely answered. Profiles contain the calibration info required to determine the forces you are overcoming. For different bikes, that would likely include weight, tilt, rolling resistance. For a single bike, the primary variable is wind resistan...

iBike locking up when turning trainer mode on and off
I was racing a TT series in the spring. Prior to the race, I would put a trainer wheel on my TT bike, put the iBike in Trainer Mode, and then do a 30 minute structured session on the trainer to warm up. When it was close to my start time, I put the trainer away, swapped to the disc wheel, and tried ...

Re: Editing Profiles for Dummies
I borrowed a PT and did a ride with it and the iBike on my Specialized Transition. Like others, I am interested in getting my profile tweaked to match the PT. I sent an email to Coach Boyd over the weekend, but no response yet. The ride had a 30mph downhill and then a return back up that same hill a...

Battery measurements
Recently, I got "SPD FAIL" on a ride when it seems to me I've replaced the speed sensor battery fairly recently. But I didn't keep track of when I replaced it, so I don't really know how many hours/miles the battery has been in there. But I think my prior battery went for a year before nee...

Re: iBike 4.02 is here
It occurred to me that I have recent ride files from all 4 bikes. Coach Boyd helped fine-tune a couple of my profiles and he sent back the ride file and had me extract the new profile. So I extracted the profiles from the ride files tonight and it seemed to work. Do you think there would be any issu...

Re: iBike 4.02 is here
I downloaded and installed 4.0.2, opened the program, poked around, and found that the only profile in there is the Sample DFPM Fit profile. How do I get all my profiles back? (please note that behind the facade of calm is a great deal of anxiety!)

Re: ride analysis software
can someone educate me on the ibike analysis software. Can you get reports of your peak 5 second, 10 second, 20 second, 1 minute, etc figures. I saw a ride comparison a friend did on our 2 most recent rides with his SRM and my ibike. I think he out into WKO but it had all these different intervals ...

Re: FTP zones vs. CP zones
I've been told that FTP for climbing will be different (higher) than for flats and that FTP for a steep climb will be higher than for a less steep climb. This seems consistent with my experience -- I am able to generate higher average power on a local one hour climb than I can anywhere else. Pretty ...

Re: Any chance of getting more profiles in the iAero ?
I think many iBikers have multiple bikes and would benefit from more Profiles on board. I have 4 bikes and am very frustrated when I'm about to ride and don't have the correct Profile loaded. It is easy to switch profiles after the ride, but that doesn't help during the ride. Storing 3 Profiles woul...

Re: Another Trainer Question
I would MUCH prefer to see more Profiles before more trainers. I have a road bike, TT bike, cyclocross bike, and a mountain bike. There are probably a lot more iBikers with 3 or more bikes than there are using 2 or more trainers. Just sayin'. ;) Perhaps your mis-understanding the feature. Having mo...

Re: mountain bike use
I, too, am using my iBike on my mtb. In general, it seems a bit low to me, so I probably need to adjust the CRR. My average power for extended climbs and for the race as a whole is lower than I achieve on my road, TT, and cyclocross bikes. The primary challenges are CRR and tilt. If calibrated for h...

Re: Believing the iBike
Okay, I don't think I understand the force vs power thing yet, but I have a lot of work left to do tonight (working 80 hours this week so I can take 24 hours off next week -- I don't understand that math either) so I'll have to come back to that. I wanted to add to the intent of the original "b...

Re: Believing the iBike
So "watts" is not a measurement of the force that I exert on the pedals? Watts is the force of my effort multiplied by the speed I'm going? So the same force from my legs results in lower watts at lower speeds and higher watts at higher speeds?

Re: Believing the iBike
I should also mention that I downloaded the SRM application and data to my PC and used their tools to analyze my rides. Wow, the iBike software is SO MUCH BETTER!! It is hard to understand the SRM graphs. In addition, the SRM I was using doesn't have altitude, so the elevation profile is non-existan...

I've been an iBike user since Gen I and really appreciate the support from the folks at VeloComp and the improvements in each Generation and firmware release. I'm very happy with my Gen III. I've been using 2 tests to check to see if my iBike is working well: 1) Pedal backwards and see if the iBike ...

Re: Auto-correcting tilt when riding with incorrect profile?
Well, I didn't do that previously. Based on your response, I did it and it shows some pretty major power corrections in the 2 miles, then pretty trivial changes after that. But I didn't actually do anything while in that tool -- it was already done. I could choose to Undo Analysis after exiting the ...

Auto-correcting tilt when riding with incorrect profile?
I went for a ride today and realized that my iBike had profiles for Bike 1 and Bike 2 loaded but I was on Bike 3. "No problem" thought I -- "switch profile after the ride". So I pedaled away and had a nice ride with pretty wacky power numbers, but I was comfortable in the knowled...

Re: Auto Trip Reset: Feature or Failure?
I like the auto-reset but would like it to be 10+ hours. Like some others, if I ride somewhere and spend many hours there and then ride back, I'd like it to be one ride. But that is rare enough that it isn't a big deal to me. I definitely like the auto-reset, though, as I have forgotten to reset mul...
