I currently have the ibike wireless on my road bike and a wired mount for my fs xc race bike. Comparing power vs heart rate on both, the xc reading seems remarkably accurate (lactate threshold of ~200w), at least on the climbs where its important. Probably too many bumps on the descents for the mtb ...

Well, since no one seems to have answered, I'll answer myself, just in case someone had the same problem. The problem disappeared after a couple of days off the bike. No clue as to why. I'm having extreme battery drain, as in I stick a fresh battery in, put the ibike on >settings>battery, and watch the voltage drop from 290 down to 253 in under two minutes. The ibike works for 20 minutes after that, though watts often seem wrong. Then the LCD becomes so faint its unreadable. I thin...
