Hi:
Your ride looks very good; I tweaked your profile a bit to take advantage of all the laps you were doing.
Yes, you can trade your PP for an AP or PP Wireless!

Re: feature req. Disable or change timed powerdown
Hi, I think that this might be common to many riders. We take long rides and often take brakes, resulting on Aeropod powering down. The issue is with Isaac/Velocomp-Aero software now logs the ride as two rides. Combining the rides in the sftwr is cumbersome as this is needed for all of our rides. I...

Re: Expected CdA Precision
Hi John, Do you have any updates to share? Thank you Yes, actually, quite a few... 1) We just released VA version 1.026, which adds many new features for aero analysis: A. You can select individual laps, or combination of laps, for aero analysis. Click on the "box" for each lap you want t...

Re: Time Advantage?
In Garmin Express/Connect one of the Charts is called Time Advantage. I think the data is part of the AeroPod 2.0 IQ app. This does not make any sense to me as the max range on the plot is 5 - MILLION. So something is not getting incorporated. Included is the extract from Garmin Connect for that pa...

Re: Expected CdA Precision
I know we're talking about this in the other thread, but I wanted to mention that I observe that effect of turn-around on the analyzed CdA on the file I shared above too. Analyzed CdA of a group of laps that include test laps and intermittent turn-around laps (< 0.5 miles) is not equal to the avera...

Your AP is pointed down more than is recommended. I would get it eye-ball level, then lock it in to make sure it can't rotate.

Re: [Feature Request] Ctrl-click to Select Mulitple Laps
Hey John, can you confirm the latest version number? I'm on 1.0.25, but I do notice the turnaround lap discrepancy, as shown below. These screenshots are from a test from a couple weeks ago. Laps 6, 8, and 10 have individual analyzed CdAs of 0.291, 0.295, 0.291. But when I group them (along with tu...

Re: [Feature Request] Ctrl-click to Select Mulitple Laps
Well, I asked for this feature multiple times... nothing happened. I also noted and reported that even the short turnaround laps with an N/A CdA value do influence the final Analyzed CdA result, therefore a selection of consecutive laps is a bad solution. The short turnaround lap issue has been cor...

Re: Expected CdA Precision
I'm curious about the kind of precision other users are seeing in their CdA testing. I've read of +-0.002 in a couple of places in this forum, but haven't seen the data that goes with it - I'm more interested in understanding all the different parameters that went with such precision. The best I'm ...

Re: Requirement of Garmin for using Aeropod
I'm using my aeropod in profile 4 with a Garmin watch. It doesn't support the Aeropod 2.0 app, so I'm using the older one. But then I wonder if I even need the app installed? If I'm just interested in collecting data, is it enough if I just pair my watch with aeropod, start the ride on the watch an...

Re: CdA Variation in Initial Testing
The smoothing of the power data can be configured in the AP profile, if I remember correctly, by default it is dynamic. If it is set to 3s or 5s, then Garmin will receive the smoothed data, won't it? Good catch! Yes, power transmitted by AP to Garmin will be affected by smoothing setting in profile...

Re: CdA Variation in Initial Testing
^ In addition to that, I just noticed that the power graph shown in the .ibr file fetched from the device is different from when I import power into VA from my bike computer's .fit file. The latter has much less fluctuation. I wonder if this is contributing to some issues? Here are two screenshots ...

Re: CdA Variation in Initial Testing
Hi John, I did some more testing today, a new short 3-min loop, pretty much all flat. The CdA values look pretty consistent (in the attached file, my testing laps were 6, 8, 12, 14, 16, and 18), but I was checking the elevation tab, since you mentioned that being a source of error last time, and I ...

Re: CdA Variation in Initial Testing
Hi John, Thanks for pointing that out. Quick question: Is it ok if the stop point is on the other side of the road as the start point, as long as they are both at the same level/elevation? On my bike-path test route, this seems irrelevant, since it's a narrow path and I pass by the same start point...

IMPORTANT!!! We just noticed that in your ride file 9/1 17:57, that you are not stopping the lap at the same physical location where you start the lap. How do we know? Re: CdA Variation in Initial Testing
Lots of comments: 1) You are doing a fine job of testing. You are doing multiple laps for each test sequence, and you are riding consistently for each test sequence. 2) The first five minutes of any ride file are recalibrating the AP. So, your first lap of each of the ride files should be looked at ...

Re: Drafting & Out-of-Saddle
Once again John and his crew meet the calls from the fans!! I also like the new scaling on the PowerStroke graph. Wondering on the time advantage - looking at the ride file in Garmin Connect it does not make a whole lot of sense. I'd upload an example of each, but I forgot while image format the BB...

Re: CDA Measurement on a long Course. What was happening?
It looks like you bumped (rotated) your AP around 51 minutes. CdA and watts went crazy afterwards. Lap 2 and lap 4 were out-and-back laps, good for CdA testing. VA analysis can overcome the error in the "bumped" lap. Analyzed lap 2 CdA was 0.204 1.png Analyzed lap 4 CdA was 0.201 (analysis...
