This is perfect and easy.
For those riding in mountainous terrain, the power numbers & powerstroke vary a lot . Large elevation changes squashed the resolution of all smaller terrain data.
The fix applied to the Autoscaling addresses these issues perfectly IMO.
Thanks

Thank you for taking an interest in the issue
With the addition of 'Powerstroke' the software has become tied tightly to the Newton hardware and is not easily supplanted by more generic software. Simply allowing the user to override the upper & lower limits of the Y-axis scaling on any selection(s) of traces within the context of a single s...

I have posted this in this forum months ago. I have posted this in the 'software' forum months ago. I have emailed Travis directly months ago. FYI; regarding the reply that citing how you CAN change one parameter on the scaling; this IS explicitly true. However, this is ONLY one parameter. As soon a...

Y-axis scaling in Issac is absurdly implemented
When will Isaac allow the user to change the scale of the data? One is allowed to 'zoom in' over the range of 'x' (time or distance); "great". By what reasoning is the user denied the ability to change the scale in 'y'? If there is a program for the purpose of analyzing numerical data that...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.
John, Thanks for the response. Based on what you stated about the Out/Back ride establishing an accurate or more accurate 'Tilt Cal', it raises the question of "What happened when the user performed a subsequent 'Tilt Cal'? In the previous firmware, were these subsequent Tilt Cal's tweaks on th...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.
John, I appreciate the work in design of the Newton. I raised a few points of doubt and concern about this change in the firmware. I am discouraged that you could not make any effort at all to offer a meaningful response to even one of those points. Is a meaningful answer to the question of How/Why ...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.
Some explanation of the algorithmic basis of eliminating the Tilt-Cal might be appropriate. When I saw this in the firmware revision notes I decided to wait until finding out more about the basis for this change. I can see how the Newton could establish this from an Out & Back ride on the same c...

Re: Several Powerstroke rides over same course
I'm just glad to be riding like this again and trying to get back from a broken leg. I think that a lot of the lateral imbalance in my pedaling may still be residual from nerves still not working quite right. The whole feedback of footing and pressure inside/outside is still weird on my left foot. I...

Several Powerstroke rides over same course
I hope I do not cause any offense with the burden of these files. For those who are curious about the Powerstroke data. These three sets of data were all over the same course except the first one has about 13 miles truncated off each end as I drove in the car a little ways to shorten the distance. T...

Can vertical axis scaling be changed by user?
It seems that I can edit values on the vertical axes, but the effect is only momentary as 'autoscaling' in Isaac immediately overrides user input.
Cant' the user be allowed some control over this or am I missing something?

Re: validation of the powerStroke method
I agree with you on that one but I don't think that will be forthcoming soon. Increased cost/complexity of the display would certainly be a factor. It also might be too much data to 'digest' in real time. The increased computational analysis would be huge judging from the time it takes Isaac to chug...

Cost/Benefit of Powerstroke feature
I'll throw in a contrasting viewpoint in the Cost/Benefit analysis which seems in principle the focus of this thread. I first got the Gen3 without the software for $200. Great product; novel product; gave me what I wanted namely an objective tuning metric on which to understand and optimize budgetin...

Can cadence sensor posn be viewed/changed in profile?
I just got Powerstroke upgrade and re-did Cal ride & Coastdowns and downloaded data & analyzed it in Issac. I was asked ques re posn of cadence sensor. I was asked this question several times, perhaps because the Cal Ride & Coastdown data were the only data in the unit. As I answered the...

Re: Can a coast down be deleted from data in Newton?
Upon closer inspection of the values stored for each of the coast downs and playing around with averaging these values, it appears that the values are not merely averaged. The net effect is that the spurious 1st coast down value does not appear to have much effect on the Aero value used to calc CdA....

Can a coast down be deleted from data in Newton?
I am using Issac 1.08 and I did a number of coast downs today. Unfortunately, the first attempt at a coast down was on a slightly downhill stretch of road so deceleration wasn't happening. I pushed the middle button in an attempt to abort the coast down and then did 5 more in the other direction. Wh...

Re: Scan does not find spd sensor
All makes sense.
I guess if the speed sensor pivots inward closing the 1/8" gap, it will buzz on the spokes and I'll know & fix it without damage to the unit.

Re: Scan does not find spd sensor
Wow, that's close. With the chainstay mounting of the unit, do you just angle it inward on the bottom to achieve the >1/8" gap? The height above the stay with the zip tie anchoring is not as stable & rugged as I would like. Given your gap criteria, I now see why it wouldn't work on the bike...

Proximity guidelines of gap between wheel magnet & pickup?
I heard or read something about "2 coin widths" which seems to equate to a bit more than an inch max. Is this correct?
A numeric value would be more clear.

Okay, that seemed to work.
Just to get this straight, do I infer correctly from your message that during the "scan", one must spin the rear wheel as well to get a successful handshaking in the scan?

Just rec'd new Newton unit. Installed per instructions & video. Did quick setup in Issac; entering weight, ht & other parameters. "Scan" function in "Setup" does not find any sensors. Check CR2032 battery voltage and it is >3.0 VDC. Put head unit in close proximity to cha...

Re: iSport has stopped going into Sleep mode
Issue is now fixed.
I removed battery for 15-30 sec and re-installed.
I would think that this caused a 'soft reset'.
No data seems to have been lost in this process.

iSport has stopped going into Sleep mode
I have had the unit a little over a week now. Initially the unit seemed to go into sleep mode after about 5-10 min on inactivity. Somehow, after a ride yesterday, the unit has stopped going into sleep mode. This would not be a problem for me except that I'm sure it will cause a consequent depletion ...

Re: How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
Fair enough, thanks. FWIW, it would seem to me that the default in a non-changeable state might be more appropriately applied as the Absolute Wind Speed. The algorithm aspect would seem quite trivial as I would think that one need only to subtract the forward speed from the measured wind speed. Just...

Re: How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
Note that this is an iBike Sport. This may be the issue. I do not see a means to view the firmware version in the unit. From the available literature on the Pro unit, I infer that it should appear in the User menu section. On mine, it does not appear. I just received the unit from VeloComp one week ...

Coachboyd, Thanks for the reply. When I check this as you cited, I still find that this parameter does not appear in the list. How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
I saw in the literature how to do this, but the firmware on the unit I just got doesn't seem to have this state variable accessible in the place where I thought I was supposed to look.
