iBike Software - Profile extract from ride file - problem

Post by rstrom »

Hello,

I've put the iBike on a different bike and am wanting to take a look at multiple calibration rides but seem to be having issues with extracting the profile from these calibration ride files.

So here's the story. Mounted the iBike on another bike and did a ride with the old profile (one that was modified for me by Coach Boyd?). The old profile didn't seem too bad but I want to get more familiar with the ride calibration so I set aside a ride day to do multiple calibration rides (wanting to compare the results and see how consistent they are or are not). On 5/19 I did 4 two mile out and back calibration rides on two different routes. Then on 5/19 I did a 3 mile calibration ride and on 5/20 I did a 3 mile cal ride.

At this point not matter which file I have open in the iBike software v(4.0.4 on Windows 7) when I go to Profiles / Edit Profiles / Extract from Ride File the only file that gets imported is Extracted from iBike_05_18_2010.

I cannot get any of the other files to extract. I even loaded the cal-ride from 5/19 and it imported a profile called Extracted from iBike_05_18_2010 with the note Profile extracted from iBike_05_18_2010_1745_2_Miles_CalRide.csv.

In an effort to clear up the issue I logged off and then back on and tried to extract - no change. Then I rebooted - no change.

HELP - what the heck is going on here? Did I find a bug?

This is not helping me to learn about calibration ride and profiles :o :?

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,

It might be that when you are attempting to extract the profile, you are seeing a message that it matches the profile that you already have in your list that you extracted from the 05/08/2010 ride. In order to avoid multiple copies of the same profile, iBike doesn't import a profile it if finds one in the list that already matches it. Take a look at each ride to see if they have the same values of aero and fric.

Travis,

I have seen that message before, but not in any of my recent attempts. The only time that I've seen the message that you're referring to was when I tried to extract what "could have been" a duplicate. In other words it was a calibration ride performed on the same day over the same course but it was clearly a different calibration ride file that I was trying to extract the profile from. If the iBike software looks at the numbers and sees that they are the same and declares them to be the same profile (even though extracted from a different cal-ride file) then I suppose that is fine, but how am I supposed to know without being able to actually see the numbers?

As far as I know the only way that I can see the numbers is to extract the profile, but the software won't let me. I could see adding an option to alert the user to a possible duplicate profile, telling the user to take a look at all of the numbers (X Y Z etc.).

Anyway, that is definitely not my current problem. The software is clearly extracting the profile from a different calibration ride than the one currently opened.

Thanks,

Robert
