iBike elapsed time / ride time

Post by rstrom »

I've used both a Polar 720 and a Powertap in the past. Both of these units have the ability (it seems to be the standard function of the devices and the way that they report a ride) to show both the total elapsed time and the total ride time. My most recent experience is with the Powertap and what I notice is that you can always see when you've stopped and how long you stopped (fixing a flat, stopping at a convenience store, regrouping, etc.) - the iBike seems to ONLY record when you are moving and does not show you total time vs. actual ride time.

Am I missing something here? Is this functionality available with the iBike? If so, what do I need to do to enable this functionality? If not, can this functionality be incorporated into the unit/ software?

Thanks much,

Robert

You're right, the iBike will not tell you your total chamois time. To do this requires a time of day recording system versus a ride time recording system. Changing over would be a pretty big undertaking and there are better things to concentrate on.

I know it's not the solution you were hoping for, but looking at the time of day when you start and then when you finish your ride, and then comparing it to the total ride time can tell you your total stopped time.

This I can do / have been doing - it's a no brainer. But there are other reasons (at least in my mind) of why I would want to see the places / times when I stopped and for how long.

Understood, but does this mean this feature/function is off the list forever, or are you willing to put it on the future feature list?

Thanks,
