Reported problems with middle button in User Interval mode?

My Gen III has not been responding consistently to middle button presses when in User Interval mode lately. I haven't noticed any lack of response when using the button in other contexts (ie, moving between functions, navigating through setup menus, etc), only when I'm in User Interval mode. I've had a number of experiences in the past few weeks however (and it was really problematic today, for whatever reason) when I press the center button to stop the current interval and start another, that it doesn't respond - I remain in the same interval. It often takes several presses to get it to respond. (and today I held it too long and it attempted to sync wireless sensors - I don't have wireless
On a possibly related note, though it could just be a new feature of the iBike software I'm ignorant of, I'm finding that I have a bunch of lap markers appearing in my ride files that I'm not setting, when I've been in User Interval mode. They seem to occur when I make a significant increase in output. For example, today, I did hill repeats. I went in to User Interval mode at the bottom of the hill, did my trip up the hill and pressed the button at the top of the hill. I went back down the hill, started my next interval, etc. I noted when I downloaded the ride file later that I had several lap markers interspersed in the trip back down the hill (where there were slight uphills that I had to exert a little power to get up, vs coasting on the other parts of the downhill). Is this a feature or a malfunction or some variety? Is it potentially related to my troublesome button? (ie, the button is 'shorting' or just spontaneously activating or such?)
Appreciate any assistance!
