Bad GPS coordinates that don't mimic ride path...

Post by thabias »

I have a 3GS and I'm noticing that every ride I send to Google Earth has these strange lines that don't mimic my ride path.
When I upgraded to iOS 4 when it came out, I did start having issues with my Google Maps where the blue dot stopped tracking my moving position. It does however get my current position correctly and quickly.

Anybody have this issue and a possible solution?

Thanks.

I suspect the phone. It starts recording just fine then fails part way through. If other rides show the same symptoms then look at the possibility of a GPS chip that is failing as it gets hot. Just a suggestion. Try turning your brightness all the way down, even if it's difficult to read the screen. That will keep the unit quite a bit colder and allow some trouble shooting.
