A curiosity question on wind offset

Post by cjonbike »

Just out of curiosity!

Scenario 1 I do a wind offset before a ride, and the wind or temperature does not change during the out and back ride! So I get perfect numbers!

Scenario 2 I do not do a wind offset (and the offset is different) but all other conditions are miraculously exactly the same! (ie exact same wind, exact same temperature and you could lay the graphs of all the metrics except power on top of each other and they would be identical)

I realize the the power numbers between the 2 rides will be different both looking at them live and in the ibike software!

When I get home and in the iBike software I go to tools/analyze Route on both rides.

Will my Power numbers now be the same?

I Thank you in advance for curing an old mans curiosity!!!! :)

As long as the route analysis adjusts the wind, then the answer is yes. I.e., there is an O&B, or laps, or the ride ends were it begins, and there is no drafting.
