Feature suggest/question

Post by jim_s »

It it possible and/or sensible to potentially allow uploading of two sets of trainer/roller coefficients, such that when the iBike is in trainer mode, on can switch between these numbers on-the-fly? I'm finding on my rollers that I like to spin at a tempo pace in one resistance setting, but in doing intervals, its nice to move the resistance setting up to the max level, then back down again in the rest period (in which I'm still trying to maintain a tempo pace). It would be nice to be able to hit a button the iBike (this would only occur in trainer mode) and have it toggle between the two resistance settings. (I tend to only use these two particular resistance settings, so don't see a need for more than two sets of coefficients available at any particular time.)

Anyway, just wondering and potentially providing some food for thought.

(On a related subject, it sure would be nice if someone could establish some sensible coefficients for CycleOps/SportCrafters rollers, hint, hint, hint... :-)

Do you have any way of riding the rollers with a power tap wheel for a day? I know that you can create a coefficient profile based on that. Other options would be if you knew somebody with a DFPM that could run the process for you. I am thinking shipping your rollers to have this done would be going to the extreme.

That's my next step - to try to find someone local w/ a DFPM and see if I can get them to either ride up through the speed range on the rollers and/or allow me to do so.

I contacted CycleOps and SportCrafters (these are CycleOps Aluminum rollers, but are made by and are apparently the same as the SportCrafters ZRO rollers), but neither was able to provide a definitive speed/power curve.)

Shipping them to VC is definitely not on my radar. :-)

If anyone has these rollers and a DFPM and can collect this data and pass it on, that'd be awesome. I can't imagine I'm the only person out here w/ these rollers who wants to use them w/ my iBike. If I can find someone local who's willing to help me out, I'll post those results here if/when I get them.
