I saw in the literature how to do this, but the firmware on the unit I just got doesn't seem to have this state variable accessible in the place where I thought I was supposed to look.
Any insights/suggestions?
How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
Re: How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
Hold the top button for two seconds to enter the setup menu, then turn the "user" to yes, then you can scroll through those settings by hitting the left button. The last menu in the user settings is absolute wind. You can then set it to 'yes'. Once it's done you won't have to see the absolute wind speed setting in the setup menu unless you enter that user sub-menu again.

Re: How do I set iSport Wind display to 'Absolute'?
Coachboyd,
Thanks for the reply. When I check this as you cited, I still find that this parameter does not appear in the list. I enter the User menu by toggling User to 'Yes', then go thru all the options. These are things like Clock; Date, LCD, etc. I think that the last parameter may be Coast which I think is the option to do Coast Downs.
I'm not sure what's going on with this. The only thing I'm doing that may be slightly out of the ordinary on the iSport is that I am using an Est Crr option to use a fixed value & meas CdA in the CD's. I wouldn't think that this has anything to do with the Abs Wind option.

What is your firmware version? This might offer a clue.

Note that this is an iBike Sport. This may be the issue.
I do not see a means to view the firmware version in the unit. From the available literature on the Pro unit, I infer that it should appear in the User menu section. On mine, it does not appear.
I just received the unit from VeloComp one week ago, so I might assume that the firmware version would be fairly current.
The matter of the Wind displaying the value of the measured wind at the unit is not a big issue to me. I just don't really understand the utility of the measured wind value. If I'm going 20mph in still-air conditions, it seems silly to tell me that the 'Wind Speed' is 20mph. I tend to think in terms of headwind/tailwind, so I'd like to know the absolute value rather than the directly measured value.

You're correct that the iSport does not permit the display of ambient wind speed. This is a new feature that is reserved for the iPro and iAero.

Fair enough, thanks.
FWIW, it would seem to me that the default in a non-changeable state might be more appropriately applied as the Absolute Wind Speed. The algorithm aspect would seem quite trivial as I would think that one need only to subtract the forward speed from the measured wind speed. Just an opinion.
