I dont know if its the slight change in location of the screen on the Gen III units but it seems as though the screen reflects the sun into my eyes all the time. I cant look at the screen in open sunlight and have to wait for shade.
Has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to remedy? I was thinking about some computer screen glare tape or something similar.

Re: screen glare
Yes, I've noticed this, too, but I'm unfamiliar with the glare tape that you speak of or any other solution. I do agree, however, that this is an issue that's worth some consideration. The sun reflection can be blinding (like looking into a flash bulb...).

Re: screen glare
You might consider some of the after-market films that are available for some of the wireless phones. A few of these will reduce glare and also help protect the screen from some scratching. iPhone and others have these and you could "trim" a piece to fit the iBike screen.
Don't use any that are polarized - you may get the orientation wrong and you will not see anything on the screen. One of the properties of LCD.

Re: screen glare
Some people have the unit forward on the stem, some further back. Some are on the handlebars and those are at varying distances. I'm inclined to think the problem may be Polarized sunglasses. They can have the same effect of looking through Venetian Blinds.
I don't think flipping the control wheel and the screen has anything to do with it since my 705 at the front of the head tube has the same visibility issues at certain times of the day.

I agree...in that the word "blinding," is being used in conjunction with riding a bicycle, I think some consideration is, in fact, worth it for both us end users and for the guys in technical support. I am a lawyer and considering the ridiculous nature of what goes on in the area of personal injury and bicycles, quick release lawsuits for example, I would suggest that it should be considered.

Re: screen glare
I don't understand how switching a screen and a control knob can have a blinding effect AND be the sole cause. Sure the angle of view is slightly different but there are too many other variables such as the angle of the mount, the angle of the sun, the relationship of the unit to the riders' eyes.
Whatever existed under the old unit configuration exists under this configuration. You just have to wait for a slightly different time of day to experience it. If by coincidence the unit is difficult to see because of glare for a second or two then don't look down.
I experience the same amount of glare on my iAero screen as I do on my 705 screen, and that's not much at all. However, I never get glare off both at the same time since they're at different viewing angles.
If something is bothering a user that much, then move it forward, backward, left, right or change the angle slightly depending on your setup.

Re: screen glare
I have yet to experience a glare issue. Never even considered it.
Mind you, Alberta roads (except when you get into the Rockies) are on a grid, north/south west/east maybe that has something to do with it, along with the time I ride.
Not many turns.
I suppose we will soon need to see an anti glare disclaimer incorporated into the instructions
What about Garmin, Times et al?

Re: screen glare
I have to agree that I do not have any kind of issue with GLARE. Now, part of that might be because I wear polarized sunglasses. The iBike is mounted on the handlebar and is virtually parallel with the ground (give or take one degree.) But I also have a Garmin 705 mounted on the top tube - no issues with it either. I also tend to ride and look where I am going and not spending much time staring at the meters (I can get all of that back home on the computer). I will glance at one or the other to check HR, speed, cadence or power as well as wind - but I also would end up in the ditch if I stared at them.

Re: screen glare
Maybe because I ride late in the day normally, I haven't had this complaint about the iBike.
However my eyeglass mounted mirror occasionally does a number and I just have to hold my head a little offset until the road angle or shade or the like changes things. I would think, while not the most preferred way to ride that moving your head left or right and inch or so would not be too difficult, if you think to do it when this occurs.
