Replacement HR Strap

All,
My hr strap has stopped working. It appears that the battery leaked and corroded the contacts points and as well as the circuit board, so I'm looking for a replacement. Am I correct in that I could use the garmin heart rate strap from the forerunner/edge 305?
Thanks,
Ian

If your iBike strap is defective we'll replace it under warranty.

Ian, when you get your new strap, you may want to check the seal--it's an "O" ring--to make sure that it has no damage and then place a very small amount of silicon grease on the seal (only the seal). The silicone grease will help keep the moisture out.
You may want to consider the same course of action for your iBike battery seal, mount seal, and speed and cadence sensor seals at the next battery change.

I'll add some grease to all of the battery ports.
John,
As for the hr strap,I'm not sure it's defective more possibly my fault for not making sure that the rubber o-ring was inserted properly. I noticed on my last ride that it was acting strangely when my hr went up to 220 (which for me was highly improbable as my max has been 180), afterwards it stopped responding. Went I opened the battery cover, the battery was corroded/leaking and that corrosion had seeped (sp) onto the contacts and circuit board.I tried cleaning the corrosion but even with new battery it still didn't work.Oddly enough, when I opened the battery cover, I found condensation again inside, probably from my sweat. So, it's possible my sweat leaked inside and corroded the battery or something like that. Thanks for grease advice though I'll look into that.
Regards,
Ian
