AeroPod, PowerPod and Newton

I use the original Gen 1 ibike with a wired mount, no cadence.

After a wet ride on Tuesday night I downloaded my file as normal.
On Wednesday when preparing to ride again, after calibration and setting off, there were no speed or power readings.

No problem I thought, this has happened before and it comes back on within a day or so.

Today 72 hours later it is still no picking up speed or power consistently.

1) The magnet is picking up on the sensor, i can hear it clicking as the magent passes each whel rev
2) If I twist the ibike unit when on the mount, the speed and power reading appears briefly, but then returns to zero
3) I rode for 30 minutes home from work today, the unit will occasionally kick into life then die again.
I have tried a hard reset ot the unit but am not seeing any improvement. I have checked my wiring on the mount and it is fine with no exposed inner cable at the connection points.

Try "pushing" the wires back into the sensor head. It is not uncommon to have them get pulled and get a poor connection. If water got in there it will compound the problem. Do it while spinning the wheel to see if you suddenly get signal.

Any of the velocomp boys know what causes this?

This is generally caused when you wrap the wire down the brake cable. Most people don't leave enough slack and it eventually pulls apart inside the head. Interestingly enough, when that happened to mine I "pushed" it back in and put a drop of black silicone to keep the wire from pulling out. It was fine until I went wireless.

Try giving it a bit of slack and putting some "goop" of whatever kind to keep it from pulling out.
