Zero Power Average

Post by mullerrj »

Is there anyway to show what the average power was for a ride, in the iBike software, without averaging the zero power time?

I know I can download the file into Training Peaks software and look at the Normalized Power for the ride (which I've done already), but wanted to know if you could do that with the iBike Software. Thanks Rob

We don't yet have this option.

Thanks for the reply John. Not a problem. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd be pedaling ALL THE TIME and not coasting..hahaha. Good incentive for me to ALWAYS pedal during training rides (thus producing power). As I said, if I really want to know my non-zero power average, I can look at my Normalized Power in Training Peaks. Just wanted to know if I was overlooking something. Cheers Rob

Normalized Power is a bit different that non-zero average power. The reason why we use average power with zeros is because that IS your average power. The number one complaint people are having about the Garmin 705 as a head unit for power meters is that they only display non zero average power. If you are tracking workouts by average power you'll never know what it was for sure because coasting time is always different for different rides. It would be the same if you had a power meter that would randomly throw 562 watts into the equation for a while, you would have no way of quantifying your actual average.
