Out and bike ride automatic recognition

Post by usedtobefaster »

Hi. I've noticed on a number of occasions the files from my Powerpod are automatically recognised as out and back rides when they're not, and I was wondering why this is happening? I've attached a recent example of this after I merged the file with a GPX from my Garmin 500 (for some reason the 500 stopped recording the GPS information before the end)

1) In the "Edit/Edit Preferences..." pane, it's likely that the "Automatically Analyze Route" box is checked

Uncheck the box and the automatic checking will stop.

By the way: in your case, it is helping. You have a wind scaling factor of 1.5, which is too "hot". Isaac is adjusting it down.

Hi John

Thanks for the excellent response and information as always. Re. the wind scaling factor of 1.5 what is a realistic value for this and where/how is it set?

Thanks

Don't worry about responding to my last post, I've just seen and read the recent ongoing thread about wind scaling value which has given me the information I'm looking for.

Hi John,

I've realised I still have an outstanding question related to my initial query. You've answered how to stop Isaac automatically checking for out-and-back rides, but the question I still haven't got the answer to is how does Isaac analyse a ride and determine it's if it's out-and-back. If I was to take an educated guess I'd say its from the elevation profile and if the profile is symmetric about the mid point of the ride (within tolerance values) then it's classed as out-and-back, and it just happens that one of my usual routes meets this criteria but is a loop.

Thanks
Paul
